Quickest Way for Getting Things Done and Licensed in US

As most of you know, I have been recommending initial licensure in NY for quite some time. And for those of you that did not heed the warning, you now know why.

New York is three easy applications only, next you take the NCLEX exam, then you get a hard license and can endorse to almost any state afterwards. Because of the requirements of the Special Credentials Verification for New York, you do not have to do any of the running around to obtain your documents. CGFNS will obtain them for you....after you sign the release and send them the money.

NY also requires two short classes that can be done on-line, one on Child Abuse, and the other on Infection. Both are available for about $15 each and take only one hour or so.

NY BON application can be found at http://www.op.nyed.gov. You only need to submit "Form 1."

The Special Credentials Verification can be found at http://www.CGFNS.org, as well as the Visa Screen Application.

Once you have received documentation from NY that your credentials have been received and approved, submit payment to Pearson-Vue for the NCLEX exam. http://www.perasonvue.com. They are the ones that will actually send you the ATT letter, upon approval of the Board of Nursing. Be aware that this ATT (authorization to test) is only good for ninety (90) days. You will have onlt that amount of time to get the exam done in, otherwise you will lose your payment and have to start again.

probably. If you recieved your training in the last few yrs then the answer would be yes. It has to be theory and practical and for a certain amount of hours. Sometimes it is worth just applying for CES with CGFNS and they will let you know what hours you fall short on

to get a hard copy of your licence is easy let the agency dealing with your immigration sort it out no probs. at the end if the day you have passed and there will always be reference.a hard copy or letter of notification would suffice. now the issue i have with cgnfs is as follows.its best to pass your nclex first through a state that does not require it because the state (BON) will evaluate your academic qualifications.

fair enough cgnfs plays a part in the immigration process for visa screening,note however the return of visa screening with cgnfs once you are in the immigration process is on average a month.its in the intrest of this organisation (whom i view as a of duplication) to speedily process those in the immigration que papers.i guess they have to juastify their existance

how many people out there who have applied to cgnfs prior to being approved by a state board of nursing are still waiting for their decisions.a philipino lady i worked with waited one year and the phones at this place never works.

dont take my word for it their are loads of nursing websites to attest to this fact.

anyway as a foreign nurse the fees you would pay at the american embassy does not include cgnfs beacuse it gets taken care of by the agency or hospital that you are going work for.and your comitment would be to fulfill your contarct

why waist 110 dollors.thats a day trips money to the theatre to go and see a good play(to many chiefs)

I work in theatre to. Did you get a good theatre job in the states, or have you made sacrifices ie location vs salary vs cost of living vs specialty. Im not with agency, because I want to play a part in my future! Im currently waiting for replys from hospitals in Texas sent copy of cv and covering letter expressing intrest, and I think its going to be tricky to endorse my license from california. Im waiting for my visascreen certificate to be posted and in the mean time im gathering NIS reports and court reports (driving offences) minor.

i guess we have to get use to the american colloquilism and call theatre the OR.there are brilliant web sites to check out.try www.21stcenturynurse.com. wicked site shows you all the hospital and gives you a profile on the hospital. www.costofliving.com check out your state and look through housing market.

www.salary.com gives you and idea what you could be earining.always negotiate but not in a profound manner.

Processing for NJ has nothing at all to do with the CGFNS exam............

For any foreign trained nurse, you are looking at about three to four months, on average, before you will be permitted to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam.

i have some friends in nj who bcos of the cgfns exams has applied with ca bon.

Very few states actually require the CGFNS exam anymore, most require just a credentials evaluation. Even Illinois, has relaxed this requirement....in the past they would not permit endorsement if you did not have at least two years of experience in the US as an RN, if you did not have the exam. Now they only want a credential's evaluation.

Biggest mistake your friends have made is going to be with endorsement, they can't endorse until after they have a SSN# as CA will not issue a hard license until then. They only send a letter that you have met all requirements but still need to submit the SSN#. Until you have a license number, you cannot endorse. So they really haven't saved themselves any time. They still need to deal with CGFNS for the Visa Screen Certificate....

You can also get a license in many other states and then just endorse to NJ....but CA is definitely not a good choice for any foreign nurse.

For New Jersey, I would just endorse to them, but definitely not thru CA.
