Quick Question about ordering books online..

I Hope everyone is having a great Sem. since they are almost over. Has anyone ever ordered books online before, I've found some great deals on Amazon Marketplace. What should I look out for? Has anyone ever ordered specifically from NPS Store (in the Amazon Marketplace)? Do You have any really great sights you like and trust to order from? As you can tell I've never ordered my books online before, but I'm really sick of being ripped off by the book store at school. TIA ~Christin

I've ordered things off the Amazon.com marketplace (not sure about the specific site you're talking about). I've had good luck. I usually just check the ratings and feedback on the sellers. If they have high ratings I go with them. I've gotten some great deals that way and it sure beats bookstore prices. I do feel bad for not giving the money to my school, but at the same time I don't have a ton to be burning myself!

Another site to check for textbooks is Half.com (part of Ebay). Good for getting rid of books, too!

I've ordered all my nursing school books from Amazon for next semester. They also list older editions, which i'm kind of hesitant to buy, but I did get one for 34 cents! The newer edition was $70! I've had good luck with everything except one time. I ordered a book and it never showed up, but Amazon guarantees your money back, but it just takes forever.

But Amazon is definitely the place to get books! I've saved so much.

I use amazon every semester. I just do an ISBN search to be sure that I am getting the exact book I need (and usually at HALF the cost!!!)

I always order books online too. I make sure they are US edition, student edition and hardcopy (if applicable) so I can sell them back to my college bookstore at the end of the semester. Many times I have made a small profit.

I have used several different sites and have never had a problem.

ordering books online is a wonderful way to save money. however, i would suggest that you do not purchase them ahead of time and attend the first couple of classes first to obtain a copy of the syllabus to make sure that they are using the same version you purchased before you purchase it just to go to class to find out that your professor has changed text or an edition of the text.

If I'm not sure about an edition, I just email the professor ahead of time. I've had great luck buying from amazon.com and half.com and saved tons of money...I just look at the feedback and usually my books arrive within a few days even though I only paid for media mail. You also get much more money selling them back online rather than going to the bookstore.

I just used half.com to purchase my textbooks for SP07 and I have used amazon with great luck before!

I've bought textbooks from half.com, amazon.com, and have seen some on ebay.com (but didn't buy there). If you have any problems with stuff you bought but not received, if Amazon (or the seller) jerks you around, just do a credit card dispute through your credit card company. You'll normally need to send the credit card company a letter, detailing what you bought and the problem you're having (never received, not as described,...). You get your money back pretty fast this way.

That's a good idea. I didn't mean to say that Amazon takes forever in that it's a battle...but they have certain dates that you have to wait for until you can file a claim, etc. So I had to wait like 3 weeks to make sure the book really wasn't coming and then another week for something to process, etc. But I still buy/sell on Amazon. I love it.
