Questions about Seton Versant RN Residency in Austin

U.S.A. Texas

I have just been accepted into the Seton RN residency and can answer any questions you may have. I will also be creating a post throughout my experience in the residency. Ask away!

Ok.... so I officially applied! Anyone else? I had a hard time picking something besides oncology and IMC so I also chose Tele and general Med/Surg. I know several classmates applied today but they are interested in OR and L&D so that's a relief to not have to compete with friends.

I applied today as well. I chose critical care (my tech experience is in ICU), and then 3 acute care positions (Telemetry, Neurology, and Med/Surg) although at the Open House I'll be handing my resume to just about anybody I can. I'll be coming from San Antonio. Good luck to everyone!

I applied as well!! I received this email-

Thank you for submitting your application for Seton’s RN Residency. When all supporting documentation for your RN Residency application has been received and your application becomes complete, the RN Residency Office will review your application and materials. Once the review is complete, you will receive an email from the RN Residency Office providing additional information on the next steps in the application process.

I'm just waiting on my instructors to submit my references! Has anyone heard anything yet?

Yay!

Yes, I got an email today stating that I had finished the first phase of the application process and in 3 - 4 business days I would receive information to start the second phase. Exciting! I'm also pretty much ready for the Open House next week... Hoping I can make a good impression and not feel too nervous.

Hi everyone! The last of my reference surveys was submitted last Wednesday morning. I was wondering if you guys think I should be concerned if I have not received the e-mail about my first phase being completed. I am having trouble finding the correct number to contact to check on the status of my application, and I was hoping to get that e-mail by open house. It would just be a little bit comforting knowing that they didn't lose anything haha! Thoughts anyone?

have you you emailed the nurse resident email? They are pretty prompt. I know a few of my classmates have received the email and a few haven't. I'm not sure what makes the difference. Did your transcript have your name on it? I know one classmate got delayed bc her transcript just had her student Id number. I would email the nurse resident email from the seton site and see what they say.

It's been 3 days since I received the part 1 email so I'm not anticipating anything further until Monday.

I just emailed them this morning, so I guess I will wait and see what happens! Thank you for your help and letting me know! I don't know anyone who is applying from my school, so it is nice that this thread has people like you that I can ask! Yes, I actually went to my school's registrar's office for an official one and just opened it up and scanned it in so it has all of my information on it.

So how was y'alls experience at the Open House today?! There were so many people, it was a little overwhelming.

Hey ctbsn, I felt it was overwhelming, and more difficult than I was expecting in some aspects. I didnt expect them to give us so much time to speak with them, so I didn't have but one or two questions prepared because I thought that was all I would have time for. I spoke mostly with floors who had oncology/chemo stuff. I'm really hoping to get a call from Seton Main 7th floor. The nurse supervisor was very nice and gave me good vibes.

I can't believe how many people are interested in Dell and at most there will be 20 spots... that is pretty incredible.

I'm anxious to get the next step application part so I can follow up and hopefully get an interview after Spring Break

Wow, it has been awhile since I been on here and was receiving emails about this forum! To be honest, Dell have 20 spots available for Residency is a miracle! Last year during my co hort there were only 4 spots at most. My best advice is don't be shy! If you have a unit in mind, go up to the unit and go find the managers to make yourself stand out and see if you can set up a shadow date. Sometime you maybe able to shadow on the spot! So good luck everyone! Seton is an amazing network to work with :)

When will we be notified whether or not we received a first round interview? I am from out of state, so I would have to arrange transportation.

ktlam - I looked back through this posting and noticed that you were an LVN first too, do you feel that gave you an edge at all? I got some feedback from the Brack hiring manager that it would, but otherwise none of the other managers seemed to care.

aed727 - have you received the second steps email yet? My understanding is that you can't get an interview without doing that first. I have not received it yet on my end. I have been corresponding with a few hospital managers though who say they want to start interviews after Spring Break. I'm hoping to receive that second steps email this week.

I have not gotten my phase 2 either, but I did receive an email that said that I would be emailed out soon. I was worried that since I had not gotten it by the March 3rd deadline that I was not eligible for an interview
