I have just been accepted into the Seton RN residency and can answer any questions you may have. I will also be creating a post throughout my experience in the residency. Ask away!
Okay I am late in the game. I graduated in August but recently got married and moved to Austin. I need a job and just applied to the residency program today - I know I am cutting it close - the application closes next week! EEk. So what is next? I am waiting on my professor and former boss to send in the reference form. What happens once all of that is complete?
I actually applied to a ton of RN I positions not realizing Seton had a residency program so I guess I must have skipped ahead in the process?? Anyhow, I am really nervous because almost every job I have went to apply for requires 6 moths experience! All of my friends from school had jobs within a couple of weeks in Dallas so the Austin job market is definitely discouraging.
If someone could please give me some tips or what they have experienced that would be helpful!!
Thanks!!
I had an interview on Friday for oncology. I honestly was not expecting to get an interview but it went well. I'm supposed to go back next week to shadow a nurse on the unit. It's optional but I'm from out of town so it depends on what the weather does. Hoping it doesn't count against me if I can't make it!
Interesting allaboutmybusiness, I haven't heard that, but looking at Seton's RN residency website, I notice the name 'Versant' is nowhere to be found...
I will be applying for June 2014 cohort. I am going to be an ADN graduate with 2 years of exp as an LVN and 1 as a CNA so hopefully that will help my chances.. I've also already applied for a BSN program to start in the fall. I know of at least one ADN from my school who got hired to ' Versant' so they ARE hiring ADNs! She also said she was not required to enroll in a NCLEX review course, which is good news as I don't personally want to do one.
Any other June cohorts getting their resumes and applications ready? I am interested in IMC or ICU. I am not opposed to good ol' med/surg though, just would like to get a good floor with good staffing and management (what a dream, huh?)

I'm from out of town as well, moving to Austin at the end of Decemeber and am also stressing out with the waiting game. Does anyone know anything specifically about which positions have/have not started interviewing? Or how many positions are available? Also does anyone have any tips for back up plans, it seems to be difficult for a nurse nurse to obtain a position in Austin without having one year of experience. Thanks and good luck everyone!
