So... My friend just got accepted into a program. classes just started for her(path and basics) then she is enrolled in the fall..
We go to my gf's birthday where she had one drink. 3 hours later she leaves and goes to her other friends place. she got drunk there apparently, head to my house(kinda my brothers gf) and then she hits someone. Cops stop her and she is charged with a hit and run, and failed the sobriety test. She is in jail right now.
I am not completely sure if she is being charged with a DWI but can she still get her license with a DWI on her record?
No the person really isnt me because I am posting from a computer and computers are not in jails.
Geez... I am stressing out about this cause we are leaving together for nursing school in the fall =/ and her whole future could be jeopardized from this.

moved to nursing licensure with a criminal history forum.
questions we seem to be encountering more and more often have to do with the effects of a criminal history on nursing licensure:
these are questions that the members of allnurses.com cannot answer. the only reliable source of information is your state board of nursing.
if you are currently licensed as a nurse and have been charged with or convicted of a felony or misdemeanor including dui/dwi or any criminal offense, you need to contact the bon in every state you hold a license/wish to be licensed and ask their reporting requirements.
if you are a nursing student or are interested in becoming a nurse you need to contact your bon and/or your school of nursing directly. you need to be completely candid with them as to the nature and disposition of the crimes. each board of nursing makes a determination on a case by case basis and some are willing to issue a declarative statement in advance.

The DWI is bad enough, but the hit & run really took it up a notch.
Even if she wasn't drunk, the hit & run demonstrates behavior that would be seriously called into question by the BON.
This needs to be reviewed by the BON for an answer.

Another frequent question is about school admission with a record. Generally, any school will accept anybody who can pay- the real issue is getting a license when you graduate- that has little to do with the school. There are scores of people in here that were not given blunt, true facts- went through nursing school, and then were denied a license.
