Questions about moving to the UK

Published

Hi Y'all,

I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions for me. I want to work in london and I wanted to know about how long does the process take. I know I need to get approved by the NMC, but I need to when I should start to apply.Does it take a few months, a year, or longer? I would appreciate any help or advice.

Thanks.

Have a great day.

Depends on where you went to school and what type of training that you have had. It will probably take at least one year before you would have the documents that would permit you to legally work..................NMC can also be notoriously slow................

Yep agree with previous poster.. the good ole NMC can take forever in processing applications. Also keep in mind if you are from the US.. you will need a work permit and that can only be obtained by th employer not the employee.

London is also a very very expensive area of the UK to live and work in.

Thanks for the help.

Jen :)

London proper is extremely expensive to live in. You will have a hard time paying rent on a nurse's salary there...........Many apts are over $2000 per month...............

Hullo!

Pls keep in mind that I have a German citizenship as well (which I believe allows me to work in the European Union?), Oh yeah and is the British lisence recognized in Ireland? :Melody: I appreciate anybody writing me back! :kiss :bowingpur

Have you tried looking at the nmc web site Yes with german citizenship you should be able to work in the UK but regarding your nurse training I believe will depend on your training. this is what it says on the nmc website
