I've been an LPN for 10 years now and also work as a home health nurse. I want to get my RN but my husband is in RN school and the community college so I have to work and get my RN online. I went to EC's website and created my EC account. Now what do I do ? I have taken all of my prerequisites ( including A&P and micro.) at local community college already. How do I know what and how many classes/courses I must take to get my degree? How do I obtain the study guide/outline for the tests. I think all I need is the nursing classes/tests. Are they classes or just tests? Do I take the tests online or do I go to a campus somewhere?Where do I get a list of the books or study guids? Do I have to pay the $75 fee to apply just to find out? I am sooo confused!!! HELP???

I believe that you should request an information packet. It will answer most of the questions. It also explains it on the website. Also call the school they are super helpful. I can kinda break it down. 1. Apply and pay application fee. 2. Mail transcripts. They accepted all of mine no matter how old. 3. You can take two tests without paying enrollment fee. For these two you can find the study guide online. Doing this from phone so can't give directions for that. 3. Take those tests. 4. Pay enrollment fee or start payment plan. 5. After thus you can take other tests and access the study guides. 6. FCAA. Get your care plan on. Woot. 7. CPNE. This is just the basics and will depend on you etc. Hope thus gives you a better idea.

Pinkfluffybunny explained it well. After enrolling and sending in your transcripts, they will go through them and let you know which classes you will need to take besides the nursing tests. I just got my preliminary results last week or the week before and the only class I need is information literacy which I will be taking through Penn Foster (save me $200) then I'll take the two nursing tests before officially enrolling. Good luck! I'll be starting before the end of the month/beginning of March. So around rhe same time as you! Let me know how it's going for you!! Good luck!
"You can take two tests without paying enrollment fee". What 2 tests?? Do I do these tests online or do I go somewhere else to do them?
What is FCAA?

The FCCA is now a 8 week program. The FCCA is composed of 2 courses head to toe and management. Excelsior recommends you to take each separate, making it an 16 week program!! ya, right I will take both in the 8 week program!! Its is all done at home on the computer and you cant do it in less then 8 weeks they give you assisgments every 2 weeks! The cost is less now at $147.50 each so $300 total. My big questino is has anybody completed both in the 8 week time, I am sure its doable. AND what books did you use, if any?

It doesn't start until May for the 8 week course. I hope to get started with the FCCA in July. I assume that they will still require a nursing diagnosis book, I'm not for sure. I also plan to do them both in 8 weeks.

It is a program that allows you to work and study on your own and take tests. Do not wait too long to make a decision. Things have changed so much since i began this program. i believe by the end of the year Health safety will not be a test you can take before enrolling. check with Excelsior to make sure.
I did the application and waiting on my transcripts to be sent to EC. I THINK all I have to take is the nursing classes. I also got a REALLY good deal. A friend of a friend took these classes through the College Network. She pain 5445.00 for the book for the nursing tests ONLY ( 7 Books ). She sold them to me for $300.. I am SOOOO ready to get started on this. I am also SOOOO sick of being treated as a "little play nurse"/LPN. I am ready to get my RN NOW!!!

They also will require you to take the information literacy but definitely take it through Penn foster for 70.00 well worth it and very simple to do. You get everything you need right after you pay.
