question regarding Cedars

yes cassie we do higher new grads....i know that the listings say experienced nurses, but you should still apply and send it your resume, however, i must warm you that cedars isnt as dedicated to training new nurses as such places as ucla where the help from staff is really great. but then again it depends what floor you land on. for a new grad i reccomend ucla or childrens. kaiser and cedars, although have better pay, aren't the best to start with. i would recommend switching there after about 2 years experience. if you have any more questions about la hospitals, lemme know i can probably help.

I have a question regarding Cedars . Do they hire new grads?
Most of the job listings are for experienced nurses. I dont live in Ca so I am a bit clueless. I need all the help I can get. For those of you who havent read my oher threads, I am relocating to Ca, so I need help with choosing hospitals. All the research in the world and I still need help..how funny.
So, I am calling out for help....HELP!!!

Thank you for that information..I really apreciate it. I actually spoke to a recruiter form UCLA...I am coming down to see her inperson in April. I hope I hear something promising. I understand that both Cedars and UCLA are very good hospitals. Iwill take your advice and start with UCLA however I will still submit a resume to Cedars. I will probably stop by Cedars also. I agree. I have found UCLA to be great to new grads b/c there is so much support *teaching hospital!*

I looked into Ceders/Kaiser as well (higher $$$/hr) but overall for new grads you have to think about the best place to learn. Which hospital has the best orientation program b/c you need that good foundation!

Yes i am glad my advice helped as i said UCLA is a wonderful place to start because of the orientation and such, but later on if you want more money which you probably will, you can switch to Cedars. Both hospitals are located in some of the most expencive parts of los angeles, ucla:santa monica/westwood(depending which campus) and cedars: beverly hills. I'm sure you've heard of beverly hills. Ok guys get this... I have an interview I am sooo excited !!!!

My interview is in April at UCLA Westwood..She told me about openinigs in Westwood and Santa Monica...I cant wait... :Melody: I 'm so excited...and I just cant hide it...I'm about to lose control and I think I like it :Melody: :Melody: I am just being silly... :chuckle

I will be working there in the Westwood hospital in July so I am soooooo excited for you. The recruiter there is really nice and accomodating, the facility is wonderful and the nurses and are really great. I hope you get the job. Let us know how it goes...

Congratulations!!!!!...when did you interview? It would be nice if I got a job in july too so I can finish up my plans here. That would give me ample ime o relocate

I externed there over the summer in the PICU and then I interviewed right after that in Aug. and was offered a position. I am soooooo excited! good luck on your interview...

Hi. My name is Emilie and I started as a new grad at UCLA about a year and a half ago. I highly recommend starting at UCLA because so many of the other staff members learn right along with you. Out of nursing school, I started in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit ("the mother of all ICUs"), where we have both peds and adults. We recover heart and lung transplant patients, aneurisms, valve repairs, correct congenital anomalies, to name a few. Not a day goes by where I don't feel challenged and fulfilled; there are countless opportunities to learn.
