Question: Is there a thread that ONLY belongs to nurses?

Published

That's really my whole question, if you're a NURSE you get me...

I'm a nurse and I don't.

Do you want EMT's and aides excluded?

Yes, I think this site should not be an OPEN forum

I am a CNA and there is a CNA forum here on AN. I see where nurses have posted in that forum.

How is that any different ? nurses post in all the forums, whether it be a CNA forum, student forum, pre-student forum, ect. And unless you are paid subscriber (which I am not) there are forums that people cannot post in unless they upgrade there membership.

Anybody can lie on the internet and say that they are a nurse, hell people lie in RL and get fake liscence to practice medicine. So how would you know if so and so is really a nurse?

We went from a Nurse's only forum suggestion to a RN forum suggestion.

What's next? Only RN's that work at a certain hospital?

You guys can make a specialized site or use a list serv or make an internet news group.

On the other hand, you WILL find that extremely specialized boards get less traffic and quite frankly tend to be boing. Also, due to lower numbers, the costs will be higher because who wants to run a board for free...

I'll say this one more time.....Nurses's only forum suggestion to RN forum suggestion is the same thing........!!

it wasn't me that said it....

that said, allnurses, while a site where nurses help nurses is after all a business. i imagine locking out all but nurses would hit the bottom line and that's never going to be allowed to happen as long as the other people aren't excessively disruptive.

but, like sue said, the problems rarely come from lurkers.

:D

are LPN's not nurses??

I can understand the frustration that some of you have. It's like a childless person trying to tell me how to raise my kids. And you know what there are some people who have a liscense to do that. Doesn't mean they don't know what they are talking about, just that they aren't parents and have never experienced the challenges of parenthood. Doesn't mean that I don't appreciate there input nor does it mean that I agree with it either.

Mother's are probably criticized by more people than anyone else.

you will always have someone who is not in the same field as you critcize you and how you do your job, whether it be here on the net or IRL. It's just a fact of life.

this is what i said....

rses, rn, lpns......we are all nurses......however, patients are patients, medics are medics and students are students....see the difference, realize the difference....

now...go from there!

don't yell at me! i was just making an observation. the way i read it was that rn's and nurses were one in the same. it may not be the way you intended it but it is the way that i read it.

and i know the difference!!

I have to disagree...a patient is also a customer like it or not and if they are unhappy w/a nurse's behavior or the way they are doing or not doing their job they have every right to speak up about it. Granted most patients don't always know what goes on behind the scenes but on the other hand some patients have been in and out of hospitals more than what some nurses can count as actual experience. Some nurses also speak much louder then they think they are and patients often times can hear the gossiping and the drama that takes place at the nurses station.

The other thing is just because one is a nurse doesn't mean they know what a procedure or situation is like for a patient. Just because we read something in a book or watched a procedure be done a million times doesn't mean we have any idea at all what that feels like physically or emotionally.

Why do so many (not all) nurses feel like they cannot be questioned as to how they do their job by the public but yet they question everyone else's experience in other job fields that are not related to healthcare? And yes I've seen nurses question mechanics, cops, lawyers, etc but freak out when the shoe is on the other foot.

I dont mind questions, but more often than not it goes beyond questions to telling me how to do my job. Generally when someone starts to do that if its family thats the time they get asked to leave. Typically that ends the problems as the pt is sick and isnt in condition to care. On the rare instance maybe twice in 20 years I have had to excuse myself from the room before I said something I should not.

All RNs are nurses. All nurses aren't RNs.

By Allnurses including a CNA forum they have already made their position clear.

All those involved with nursing are welcome. ;)

Tippy...I was not yelling at you. What I was pointing out as your observation was wrong, as far as what I said....Nurses....whether lpn, rn are the same....so your statement to me was confusing....I said there was no difference to me...

I'm not here to banter this topic any longer as the band wagon has a few already loading up the cart. I am looking for a site where RNs are free to discuss their experiences without non-nursing mudding the water so to speak. I guess there is an ignore button....I'll just use that, thanks,
