Queens University of Charlotte, ABSN class of 2012?

Anyone else out there get accepted for the ABSN program starting this May? I want to swap information about financial aid, housing, and general thoughts and opinions.

Just submitted my deposit for the accelerated BSN program at Queen's University of Charlotte starting May 2011. Not quite sure what to do about housing yet. I'm going to contact their housing department and hopefully they will have suggestions. Would love to get in contact with future classmates and get advice from past graduates!

I submitted my deposit too but my main concerns are where I am going to live (some parts of Charlotte are ridden with crime and very sketchy) and what types of financial aid I can receive. Hopefully Queens has suggestions for good private lenders. Since this is my second bachelors I learned that you cannot receive any kind of government sponsored grant. I have heard that Queens has a great nursing program. I'm really excited and waiting for them to email information about enrollment. If the university has it's own housing I will most likely live on campus, because so far the apartment search is not going so well.

I submitted my deposit too for May 2011! I look forward to meeting everyone! I also live in an apartment and am in the process of looking for a new roommate. Hopefully I can get to know you guys and possibly help someone with living arrangements :)

Hey Susan12! Congrats on getting in :) Have you received any information from the university yet? I have still not heard anything from them. They have not even informed me of whether they received my deposit. I'm getting anxious because without any financial information I can't really make a decision on where to live.

Hmmm...They did send out an email with all the paperwork they need before classes start such as medical paperwork and background check papers. If you haven't received that email I would contact them. Otherwise thats all I have heard from them. I think they did notify me when they got my deposit so I would definitely double check on them!

Here's a link to the crime mapping system. It's easy to check a neighborhood out here and determine what's sketchy and what's not. HTH. Good luck a Queens!

Hi Everyone

I am attending QU ABSN in May 2011 as well. I've lived in NC for a year so far and know some good areas to live. Huntersville, which is about 20 minutes north of QU is amazing. South Park is a great, clean place to live and so is Mooresville. Hope this helps! Can't wait to meet everyone. If you have any other places in mind let me know and I can tell you what they're like.

Hi everyone!

I'm attending Queens in May also and getting ready to move to Charlotte from CA. I hope to fly in by 5/2 so I have a few days to get situated and acquainted with the area. I'm apartment hunting now (via internet) and I was hoping to find a gated apartment community within roughly a 15 min drive from campus. If anyone has any suggestions on nice/safe apt complexes, I would be greatly appreciative since I will be moving there without ever having seen the area. :)

Thank you and I am very much looking forward to meeting all of you!

be wary of queens university. their nclex pass rate is so low that they are on warning status for their bsn/absn, and operating under consent order for their asn.

you can check the bon.

for bsn

there are many great options like uncc, or getting an rn and then getting a bsn later. i would hate to see you go to a school that loses it accredited status, which can happen with such low performance.

VioletKali,

Thank you for posting this info about Queens, the website info was very helpful.

I was concerned about the choice I made to attend this college after reading your post so I've done some research on the programs they offer. I just called Queens to comfrim the info on the website. The 'warning' is strictly for their BSN program. The last cohort for the ABSN had an 89% pass rate and the ABSN program is not under scrutiny from the state board. After speaking with the admissions dept, I am very confident in the decision I have made to attend their ABSN program!

89% is considered dismal, in the Nursing school world.. Go for it if you want, good luck!

I am coming from a 100% NCLEX school though, so I guess I am biased.
