Pure curiosity :)

My recertification is coming up and I'm curious to know, what level of CPR certification do you currently hold? Did you just stay with BLS or have any of you ventured into PALS or ACLS for your school nursing gig? I was looking for some courses that were coming up so I can get recertified, and got to wondering if anyone had thought about something other than BLS.

Yes, PEARS is great! I'll be taking a refresher course for myself in a few months with an amazing instructor. Very excited. It looks great on the resume and gives you more confidence in the care you are providing. ?

I have PALS and ACLS for my other job. Someone was surprised that PALS wasn't required for school nursing but what would be the point? I can't monitor, give fluids or meds, or defib (non-auto) anyway? PEARS is a great course though. I've thought of teaching it in the area since there are no classes. (I do teach PALS and ACLS)

I am BLS only, but I'm going to research PEARS, I have never heard of that one!

I will definitely be asking our district nurse about PEARS- seems to be a good idea.

I just have BLS.

I have my BLS and ACLS certs (my former employer, a large university hospital, made me recert my BLS even though I was getting ACLS?), both of which are expiring this August. I'd like to re-up my ACLS cert, even though only BLS is required of me. Even though I'll never have to run a code like I would in the hospital, I'm proud of being ACLS certified and having that knowledge under my belt.

Having worked pedi acute care, the info in PEARS was redundant for me, but if I didn't have that experience (specifically with kids), I think PEARS would be an excellent additional training/cert. Very informative!!
