umm....why do you have to buy one? whatever place you work for should be supplying that...although they can be handy at times. Ive seen them for as much as 400.00 and in my area one can even rent one from a drug store...you might want to check into that before spending your hard earned money on one.

I have thought about purchasing one as well. I dunno, my experience is that my facility does not have what is needed. I have had to purchase my own manual pressure cuffs because the ones that are available are either malfunctioning or don't have the correct cuff size available. And, we have had some pregnant women come to our clinic that are asthmatic and we had no pulse oximeters available. I have seen some cheaper ones available on Amazon, but wonder about their actual quality.

Go to WWW.SEMEDICALSUPPLY.COM I needed one for work since ours broke and replacing it was not a top priority. They have 3 types, all pretty much the same but prices of $50-$100. I got the $70 one for myself and it works like new and I've had it for close to a year. It really comes in handy when there is only 1 for the entire unit and someone else is using it. They also come with a lanyard and case for it, so don't make a mistake like I did and order a case. It comes with one .

I am amazed that facilities aren't even supplying the necessary equipment for nurses to give quality care!!!

While I think it shows your commitment to your patients and your profession to purchase what you need -- I really think you should go to the DON, or whomever in charge and demand the equipment you need.

Thanks for the info .I have been wanting to purchase my own as well for work.We have one ,that is just it 1.When we have over 30 residents and you are doing pulse ox on most of them and need to do certain charting certain days then you spend all day catching up with your vitals that shoulda been done as you passed your morning meds.I hate it.
