Pt's C/O in the ER (funny)

What are some funny C/O people have had coming into your triage area? Misspelled words too...

We had a lady come in the other night because she ate raw chicken -Claimed she didn't know it was raw.

Lots of people come in with soar throats.

We also had a mom who tried to spell diarrhea several times on the check in -Finally crossed it out and wrote S**Ts a lot.

I have seen this twice: First, make a mental picture of any roughly phallic shaped and sized object (PSSO), which you would never see in a shower. Got it? OK. The story always begins:

"I was in the shower with (your PSSO here), when I slipped! I landed sitting down, and guess where the PSSO went?"

And now you need a trip to the OR to get it out, have a nice night.

Seen so many of those PSSOs over the years I no longer even blink an eye.........Yawning

Had a poor old guy who reached over to his nightstand in the dark for his nasal spray. Ended up snorting Whiteout (liquid paper).

Shows up with both nares caked in the white stuff and running down his upper lip.

Took a while to scrub off and dig out of his nose.

We get a good laugh over the allergies people list...

recently had someone allergic to BLEACH, another allergic to Formaldahyde.

Aren't we all?

I'm going in for elective surgery soon, and plan to take the following allergy list: orificenic, cyanide, HIV, mad cow dis, heroin, asian bird flu, plague, smallpox......just to see if they list it.

(Ok, I won't but I like to think I will.....)

Yes, I would definitely be curious as to how one would know they are allergic to police pepper spray........hmmmmmm, but then again.....maybe not! And Tom.....I'd love to work with you. At least I'd know that if I dropped, you throw a sheet over me, keep on workin' and spare me the indignity of going through a recusitation! ;)

I forgot to mention the 5-6 week pregnant woman that came in for RLQ abd pain and informed everyone that she used to be a junior volunteer in our hospital and she did not have time to stick around for a sonogram and that she would just find another doctor to see her and that she was just going to go back to work, she could lay around and sleep in her own bed and whe should have had her seen, treated and released hours ago!! (Take it to Jerry Springer is all I can say or follow up with your PMD or GYN doc) Life is never dull in the ED!

I have one from last night...either it was funny or I am/was tired..

A homeless guy comes in, has been living under a tree...

drinks too much, lights a cigarette, falls asleep and burns his tree down..

talk about bad luck!!!

Anyway, had to be treated for smoke intubation on top of all that...
