Psych Nursing Semester - Is it going to be hard?

Published

Hi Everyone, I just passed Med Surg 2 and am heading into Psych ( Semester 3).... I'm just wondering if you guys found Psych to be harder than Med surg 2? and Why?

Also, I want to prepare my self over winter break while recuperating from the trauma of Med Surg 2.... do you guys have any tips, suggestions or books that will help me with Psych?

Thanks so much xx

Depends...

Do you enjoy psych? Then it won't be as difficult. Psych is very different from medical nursing, so people who don't care for psych usually find it difficult. I love psych, so it was easier than medical nursing.

As far as books to review, Psych Notes 4th Edition Clinical Pocket Guide is handy. It includes DSM info, Assessments, Meds, and Educational info.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your reply! Well, i something I I find interesting in general, and for Pre-Req psychology I scored an A...but I'm guessing that doesn't relate or come even remotely close to what I'll be learning in Psych. Either way yes, I am interested in it for sure, so hopefully I will do good. Thanks also for the book suggestions, heading to Amazon now to have a look!
