PSY 120 Elementary Statistical Reasoning

Anyone taken this course? I'm thinking of taking this with NRSE 451 Transitions in order to finish this course before the switch to semesters.

How difficult was this course? I've taken a lot of online courses, so that is not an issue. I am OKAY with math (I got an A in College Algebra by really applying myself). I'm also working 1 full-time job, and another part-time. I'm going to cut down on the part-time job though.

I am finished with mod 9 & 10. IMO, it was worse then anything before it! Maybe cramming 9 & 10 together at the end isn't the best idea? I started working on it in the early afternoon with the intention of not stopping until I was done. I pulled an all nighter and finished at 5am. I think my brain has turned to mush and I am seeing in null hypothesis'. Can someone please tell me how I will use this in real life and will stats help me in the nursing research class? I am SO done with this class, except for the final, and as soon as I get a little more sleep, I will have the energy to do the happy dance.

What classes are you taking for fall semester? I'm taking Research 405/4550 the first 5 weeks, Community 341/4540 and Strategic Planning/Management combined 4580 the second five weeks, and the RFPD fashion class the 3rd five weeks. After loading up on 3 classes this quarter I am looking forward to only 1 class the first five weeks. I will be able to have a life again, woohoo.

Omg...that's rough! Did you devote that one night only to 9 & 10? I work 3 twelve hour days and spend the 4 days doing the work.

Community rates right up there with sucky classes. Up until I started family, it was numero uno on my I hate this stupid class list. Family blows it away.

Yes, I did devote that one day/night to 9 & 10. I know now how absurd it was and I wouldn't recommend it to others. I still have 2 art essay papers to complete and a crazy microbio final to study for and I really needed to get stats done and out of the way.

I'm taking Research first fall session also, followed by Leadership then Excellence. Let's definitely get a topic going for Research. These forums are lifesavers!

I've just been peeking at your posts to see what I'm in for come August 27. Did you look at Khan Academy? They have a video on Chi Square Tests....not sure if it's what you need!!

I will be in Professor L.'s class on the 27th too. Did you order books yet?

I am bagging this class until I know for sure I'm going to grad school. Found out I don't need it to get in but will need before the research class. I'll figure out an easier approach. Luckily my stats from a gazillion years ago transferred. Good luck to everyone. I dropped it!

Do you have any helpful hints on the confidence intervals. I am having a hard time with this one, I just keep getting the wrong answer, I think it is finding the right z or t score that is hurting me. Any advice will be appreciated.

Yes I did. I got scared for a minute....I use the 978 numbers! lol. Never heard of the access code. Hmmm. I plan on watching a little Khan Academy during the break.

I had problems with that as well, it is confusing. I received feedback and answers on what I turned in and am going to try re-working those problems tomorrow, just don't have it in me tonight.

I do know that I kept using the wrong "mean" number, as there is a population mean and a sample mean in some of our problems. Hmm, what else. If you are searching for the 99% confidence interval I'm pretty sure you need to use alpha .01 and 2 tails when looking up the z or t, even if the original problem is a different alpha and one tail. If searching for 95% CI then you use .05 alpha and I can't remember off the top of my head about the tails on that one. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. I'll be back on here sometime Thursday and I'll have my re-worked problems and notes handy then.
