Providence TIP Program January 2021

Published

Hello everyone,

I haven't seen a thread started for the January 2021 cohort so I figured I will start it. Good luck everyone!

I was actually shocked at how many people were STILL competing.. I heard that they go based off of scores during your first interview, which is questionable because now I don't really understand the purpose of this interview we just had?.. To just see our faces?.. Because I feel there was no way we could have 'improved' our chances during this interview because we weren't able to really shine ?

If you go back and read past threads on Providence or even reviews on Google you'll find that they always interview way more candidates than there are spots. It's kind of annoying because the process itself is already long like the whole on demand interview then waiting and then interviewing again and then waiting and reference checks you'd think they would narrow things down a bit more before calling for interviews. It's a lot. So when people get interviewed they rightfully so think it is almost a done deal, which sucks when you find out there's way more people interviewing. They put so much emphasis on their model and mission so they may do these things to not only put a face to the resume but to find those who fit their model the best. Anyways my friend interviewed last year with them but at their Oregon location and it was the same thing except the interview was in person with a whole panel. Stay positive you are technically one foot in! My application never even got open LOL

I'm sorry to hear about that ? but I could not agree more with you.. The two units I interviewed for had 2 spots for each unit (so a total of 4).. and there were 14 of us competing for my 1st choice interview ... ugghhhh IDK how they will even base their selections at this point smh

how does one know how many spots they are hiring for your chosen unit?? Or how many will be hired overall

Some context: I applied to L&D and MotherBaby, so the nurse managers work closely with one another..

So during my interview the MotherBaby Nurse Manager said there were only 2 spots for MotherBaby and 2 spots for l&d! .. IDK about the numbers for other units, I know float pool was emailing people because they didn't have enough people chose it as a 1st choice

@MurseRN1996 I applied for the fellowship program but haven't gotten anything new since I submitted my on demand interview. My status still says "Being reviewed by recruiter", but it's said that since I turned in my application prior to doing the on demand interview. Have you had any change in your status?

I applied to the fellowship program as well and my status says the same thing.

What was the 1st and 2nd interview like? What questions did they ask?

And I don't think you should worry cause like someone said before, at least you were chosen for a interview so they must see the shine in you regardless! ?

My first 'in person' interview questions were all "Tell me about a time you..." type of questions and if I was open to being considered for other units.

The second interview with the group of other candidates was basically the Nurse Manager explaining their unit/program, and then everyone going around the 'room' and saying if they had a preceptorship in that particular area and then 3 things you would bring to the unit. After we all spoke, it was open for us to ask the manager questions (since there were so many, we were only really able to ask one question per person)!

Did anyone's job portal update or not update? On FB it looks like they updated portals to include the unit, perhaps if they were hired.

Mine hasn't... which has me worried, but I'm trying not to accept my fate until people start receiving phone offers.

It's OK!! It looks like only a few units have updated so there is still time!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this thread! I just got an invite to interview for Mission Hills! I am assuming this is the first general interview because it did not include any units. Anyone have advice? What kind of questions do they ask?

I interviewed with St Joseph Orange, so the questions may be different.. but when I was interviewed they railed me with 'tell me about a time when...' questions and then some questions such as, 'why this hospital', 'what are 3 things you bring to the table' and 'tell me about yourself'.... Good luck, hopefully this will help in some way!! ?
