20 GRAND for an LVN course??

The con is that you're going to be paying that much for an LVN's tuition, and i know of RN school tuition that was less than that.

Either way, it should not keep you from getting an RN degree

can you give me info on that RN school. I don't wanna go to college for 4 years to obtain a license, therefore i've been shopping around for nursing schools that allows me to get a license within 1-2 years w/o any college education.

if you are in the states there are TONS of LPN schools for not that much money, and (from what I've seen) they are all only 1 year programs. As for pre-reqs, the most you may have to do is one semester, and it'd be worth it to pay less!!! the only reason i'm paying so much is because i'm impatient!!! but in texas the lpn programs are only aroun 3-6,000 at most including everything. where are you from??

Im in Los Angeles. My only concern is I would someday want to reach RN status and have a degree in that field. Can you explain to me the process in obtaining an RN degree after im done with my LVN school. THANKS!!!

well (in texas) you can do a "fast-track" to get your RN. This is what I'm planning on doing. It's a one year program and when your done you write your test and have your RN. I'm planning on doing this at Austin Community College, in Austin Texas. Here is a link to their page, so you can see what i mean:

I'm not sure what programs are in california, but who knows, they may have the same thing going on.

i'm just about to start school in jan. it's a one year program, and then we are planning on moving to texas and i'll work for a while and gain some experience before doing the fast-track to get my RN, and that is a one year program.

I live in Texas (north of Dallas) and I am not paying that much. I am attending a program thru a community college. It is 2 semesters plus a mini summer session - we graduate mid July.

i was just giving numbers based on what i've seen other folks on here say :) how much are you paying?? I was just trying to say that she should look around more because there are cheaper programs :)

your best bet is to find out from the programs that you hope to obtain your RN degree from, what credits from your lpn program will transfer. I can't imagine you will be allowed to go straight in to an RN program (even as an LPN) without the required prereqs. Please check the requirements from several sources....and 20 grand is absolutely ridiculous for an lpn degree and is high for an ADN-RN as well. Don't let them rip you off!
