Is it pronounced "Jay-co"? I am giving a presentation tomorrow and the acronym comes up a couple of times. Thanks for your help.

I've never heard it pronounced any other way that Jay-Co -- long A, long O. And I've heard it A LOT lately, as they were just recently at both hospitals where I have clinicals ... :chuckle
I've also heard people refer to them as "Joint Commission" -- I guess you could use this if you're really unsure - can't go wrong there.
Good luck with your presentation! :)

It is pronounced the way you said, Jay-co, accent on the first syllable. I remember their visits very well. Yuck.

Just call them the joint commission if you are worried. What's in a name...

The above posts have it correct for "formal"speaking. In less formal atmosphere many refer to it as "joke co".
Thank you everyone!

Personally I find it easiest to pronounce JACHO as "je-hov-a"

We received a memo with something about their arrival, coming to us in mid-October, and they misspelled it JACHO...since then we have referred to them as JACK-O. It is appropriate to call them JAY-CO or joint commission.

Jay-co is how it's pronounced here, too. How we wish it would go far, far away, to another universe!

I can think of all kinds of things to call them -- few are really appropriate though. We are getting geared up for a visit here so we are hearing "the J word" alot! "Jay-Co", "Joint Commission" -- yada, yada, yada
Have any of you been through a survey with the new "tracer methodology"? How is it? Huge differences?
