    Student with ADHD

Addendum: I take my meds now. Needed a good combo. It helps tremendously. But I still forget a lot of stuff.

    Wilkes University / BSN-MSN PMHNP / Fall 2021

Make sure you go to the Wilkes PMHNP group on facebook and search "preceptor". You will find the info you need to make decisions. Things have not been going well for people.

    COVID Faces

Yes, when I see people with their masks off for the first time, their faces look warped! Often times I ask to see them with their mask off because it drives me crazy to not know what they look like. I remember people by face rather than name.

Depends on your track. Mine was ADN-MSN, and they start you out slow (3 credits, 7 credits), barely part time, then ramp up to full time load at the end of the program. It is all planned out for you. You can change it, but they'd rather you didn't. C...

    Nursing with medical marijuana card...

Florida, late 2019: I asked a physician that prescribes Marijuana, and he said that as long as you don't work at a federal facility, you are good. I would hope that he would know. However, my google searches have turned up less desirable results.

    Student with ADHD

Medication was necessary in school. I work in psych, and I really don't care to take it now, but my work does suffer. If I don't write things down immediately, I don't remember to do it / pass it on / document it. Also I must have checklists. I have ...

    Wilkes U-PMHNP

Oh, sorry, I meant to answer that. It’s been around $4k for 6 credit hours. This is for RN-MSN, but I believe the tuition is that same for MSN.

    Wilkes U-PMHNP

Maybe a year and a half full time, and I only say that because only certain classes can be taken in summer. It could possibly be less. I am definitely not attempting it full time just because I work.

No not every week. It’s totally doable with full time job.

Anyone NEVER been hit/hurt working psych?

All the time on the geri ward, and unprovoked of course. ONCE in the adult inpatient unit, but that was kinda my fault.

They set it up to be two classes at a time at first, and then three towards the end. From what I can see, it's like that because of either the difficulty of the courseload assigned, or whether or not it's offered in summer.

    RN to PMHNP

Agreed. I started at Wilkes. Seemed like the best option to me.

    Wilkes U-PMHNP

I'm going into my fourth semester there. Started out in the RN-PMHNP program, so the first two semesters were the bachelors level courses. I like it so far. The classes have all had the same format (weekly discussion post, 150+ words, 2 references ot...

    Wilkes MSN PMHNP Spring 2019

    Yes, accepted. But RN-MSN.
  17. I couldn't even get an RN job at the hospital I was working at as a CNA when I graduated! I got hired at a rural hospital PRN and at a psych hospital that I worked at previously because I knew the employees. Good luck, it's rough out there.

    ATI Comp Predictor advice please!!

I always scored way lower on the practices (A&B) than on the actual proctors. I made level 3 on all but 1 proctor, but would score in the 50's and up on the practices. Maybe it's because I did all the practices?..... including all the learning sy...
  20. How do I find specific salary/differential/benefit, and nurse residency program info for specific hospitals? The residency is not searchable on the internet in some instances, and I've not seen salary posted at all. I know all the information for the...

    PMHNP - Wilkes University

I have lots of information about it, directly from the admissions counselor. You can PM me.
  22. It's true for me. That's why I went to nursing school. My original degree track was in Mental Health Counseling. After a short maternity leave from school, I decided to go ahead and shoot for that nursing degree. It's an opportunity to be more invol...
  23. My classmates and I want to know, as we have heard rumors that it does not. But does the actual NCLEX have all the trick questions that nursing school exams do? Like in ATI, Wolters-Kluewer products, Cengage, etc? The questions can be rather unfair a...

Does the NCLEX have trick questions like in nursing school exams?

I do understand how it works. However, what I meant was sometimes the wording seems tricky, and ATI seems to be worse about it than others. My question is more like "Are the questions worded clearly, so that one can understand exactly what is being a...

Did being a CNA make you NOT want to be a nurse anymore?

Yes. For the first 11 months of being a PCA/CNA, I did NOT want to be a regular floor nurse. Now that I'm half-way through my nursing core, and I've seen that not all floors/specialties are as nasty as the one I'm in (a rather old medsurg unit), I ha...
