  1. Addendum: I take my meds now. Needed a good combo. It helps tremendously. But I still forget a lot of stuff.
  2. Make sure you go to the Wilkes PMHNP group on facebook and search "preceptor". You will find the info you need to make decisions. Things have not been going well for people.
  3. Yes, when I see people with their masks off for the first time, their faces look warped! Often times I ask to see them with their mask off because it drives me crazy to not know what they look like. I remember people by face rather than name.
  4. Depends on your track. Mine was ADN-MSN, and they start you out slow (3 credits, 7 credits), barely part time, then ramp up to full time load at the end of the program. It is all planned out for you. You can change it, but they'd rather you didn't. Course credits per semester for the graduate work is scheduled at: 6, 6, 5, 7, 9, 9, graduation. The semesters with 9 include the preceptorships.
  5. Florida, late 2019: I asked a physician that prescribes Marijuana, and he said that as long as you don't work at a federal facility, you are good. I would hope that he would know. However, my google searches have turned up less desirable results.
  6. Medication was necessary in school. I work in psych, and I really don't care to take it now, but my work does suffer. If I don't write things down immediately, I don't remember to do it / pass it on / document it. Also I must have checklists. I have a very supportive work-partner (psych often works in teams of two nurses), and that is incredibly helpful.
  7. Oh, sorry, I meant to answer that. It’s been around $4k for 6 credit hours. This is for RN-MSN, but I believe the tuition is that same for MSN.
  8. Maybe a year and a half full time, and I only say that because only certain classes can be taken in summer. It could possibly be less. I am definitely not attempting it full time just because I work.
  9. No not every week. It’s totally doable with full time job.
  10. All the time on the geri ward, and unprovoked of course. ONCE in the adult inpatient unit, but that was kinda my fault.
  11. They set it up to be two classes at a time at first, and then three towards the end. From what I can see, it's like that because of either the difficulty of the courseload assigned, or whether or not it's offered in summer.
  12. Agreed. I started at Wilkes. Seemed like the best option to me.
  13. I'm going into my fourth semester there. Started out in the RN-PMHNP program, so the first two semesters were the bachelors level courses. I like it so far. The classes have all had the same format (weekly discussion post, 150+ words, 2 references other than textbook, reply the same week w/ same criteria - plus other miscellaneous papers and projects). So far the papers haven't been terribly long or burdensome. It's been rather easy, really. I got the pdf versions of my books for cheap on ebay, and don't regret it at all. For the bachelors level classes, I didn't even look at the textbooks because you can't use them as references, so the research had to come from the online library. I don't condone that necessarily, but it was the truth for me. Overall I'm pretty happy...but I still have a long way to go.
  14. Accepted to RN-MSN PMHNP Spring 2019
