  1. HELP: In Need of a Nice Tote/Bag for Clinicals

I bought a 'business' style tote and it's ok. I liked that there were dividers in it but I now hate that the middle divider is a pocket. I want to keep some things zipped up, but it ends up bulging and makes it so other items are difficult to fit in ...
  2. CNA/Tech Experience for UWOSH

If the rest of your application is strong I don't think it would be a breaking point. They accept a large variety of back grounds. The only thing about the adult care is that it would make clinicals easier for you.
  3. Tell me of Eau Claire

I love Eau Claire. There is a lot to do. Check out Volume one online. It's an online magazine and let's you know everything that is happening in town. Don't forget it is only a short drive to the twin cities as well! And yes, it is a very affordable...
  4. UWOSH Accelerated Nursing May 2016 Cohort

It's kind of cool they are letting in wait list people for the next term. I'm sure it's easier for them, and less annoying for those who got in because you don't need to reapply! They are still planning on a February cohort starting next year as well...
  5. UWOSH Accelerated Nursing May 2016 Cohort

Congrats to everyone who got in! And if you got waitlisted, don't give up hope! People can and do chose to go to other schools so it's not impossible. And if you didn't get in remember you can always reapply! They are starting a 3rd cohort (February ...
  6. UWOSH Accelerated Nursing May 2016 Cohort

Be yourself. If you are being interviewed it means you are paper qualified so don't worry about that anymore. Think of it as a conversation, not an interview.
  7. UWOSH Accelerated Nursing May 2016 Cohort

This was me. Yes, the capstone is 9/26 to 10/7 for my cohort. Sorry about that. As for wanting a schedule, you should get a tentative schedule when you are offered admission so that you know the dates you are committing to. Did not read through this...
  8. UW-Oshkosh Accelerated BSN - May 2015 Cohort

I am. I start my 3rd class tomorrow! I'm not positive what my overall transfer GPA was but I only had 1 B in my pre-req courses. I didn't have a ton of CNA experience at the time of my application but I have other healthcare experience (I was an opt...
  9. UW-Oshkosh Accelerated BSN - May 2015 Cohort

Good luck guys! I can't even explain the excitement I felt when I got my acceptance. I sympathize with you all now on applying, it's a lot to get done! I'm happy they took out the recommendation requirement, it's difficult for adults in a way. 1) you...
  10. Hi everyone, I am currently working towards the pre-req requirements for the UW Oshkosh accelerated program (I was 'too' chemistry in my 1st degree) and was just looking to see if anyone else is applying to the fall or even the spring of 2015. I'm v...
  11. Poll: Nurse and law enforcement couples

This is a part of why I decided to go into this field vs other healthcare field.
  12. Poll: Nurse and law enforcement couples

I agree. Plus both are forms of public service and you have common experiences to bond over.
  13. Poll: Nurse and law enforcement couples

Really? Never heard that stereotype. Not my experience at all. And I was friends with several people in the police field before dating one working in the field.
  14. Poll: Nurse and law enforcement couples

My SO is a deputy sheriff. Was not pursuing nursing when we met but I am now. I know several cups married to nurses or CNAs...
  15. New to night shift

I sleep more on night shift that on days. I keep the same sleeping schedule all the time though. I really hate switching back and forth. It just kills my mood and I'm in a fog the days i try and stay awake. I used to sleep 7hr a night naturally. Now ...
  16. Best Shoe Brand for Wide Feet

I start nursing school soon and while I do not need shoes for clinical right away I want to make sure I have the money when I need them (I hear they can be spendy), but there are so many shoes out there! Do any of you have a preference on brand? I ha...
  17. Best Shoe Brand for Wide Feet

Good shoes are totally worth the money. The replaceable insole seems like a nice feature. I will definitely try some on. Lucky for me I live near a huge shoe store that stocks them (per the brand's website). Thanks for the suggestion!
  18. Becoming a nurse is no longer an option for me?

I feel bad people are harping on your about you blaming your mom for the permit, if anything that's probably the only thing she is at fault for. Doesn't a parent have to sign for an underage person to get their license? I think so. You will probably ...
  19. Should I tell the truth about graduating to get a job?

Unless they ask you don't really have to. If your schooling is on your resume though, it is likely to come up. But, being a soon-to-be graduate might actually help you get the job. It's nice for employers to have a transition as well. And, if the...
  20. UW-Oshkosh Accelerated BSN - May 2015 Cohort

If any of you May Cohort people feel like giving some advice to an October Cohort person please feel free I am so exciting to be starting in a few months!
  21. I'd really love to hear your thoughts on the program now that you are a couple months in. Anything you wish you knew when you were in my spot and a few months away from starting? Any tips or tricks you would recommend? I'll take whatever I can get!
  22. The application asks for 2 locations. It can be any 2 places you want. If you are thinking a different state then I would just double check the program is allowed in that state. Approved States — College of Nursing I start in October :)
  23. Quit during orientation

I live near a bigger city in the midwest and it starts around 30 depending on the facility/setting that you get hired into. I know in Northern Misconsin/Minnesota it's more like 20. So it does vary a lot. I will make more as a nurse than a chemist, b...
  24. Quit during orientation

Never said it was about the money. I don't enjoy what I do, at all. I got the CNA job to help me get into nursing school, to make a little side cash, and have experience.
  25. Quit during orientation

We work with very different types of men then. Maybe it's an area thing, because I know employers who have specifically hired only women because they don't complain about needing to clean a bathroom etc.
