  1. Wow thanks for the information I will ask. I was googling good questions to ask at an interview and that question came up so I wanted to know so I could ask.
  2. Wow that is scary crazy. I hope that I find a decent ltc facility and nurses aren't too bad to deal w. Where I did my clinicals some cna's didn't wanna help others. So when does team work actually come in effect?
  3. Oh ok thank you. And do you know what's the avg amt of pt to cna?
  4. Ugh I hate interview questions. I do have to prepare myself. What documentation did you take? She didn't tell me much over the phone. I'm assuming I need obv id ss I guess a copy showing I passed my exam I know they usually ask for a physical I'm having a hard time getting my hands on a copy. Do you think it would be ok if I didn't take it that day?
  5. What is a cna turnover?
  6. Oh ok. What kind of questions did they ask you?
  7. Thank you! I already got my first interview!! Did you start yet?
  8. Or even volunteer. I just passed my exam on weds and last night just laying in bed I googled all the nursing homes that come up here in the bronx and began sending my resume to any email address under contact us. And the subject I put cna employment opportunity and I copied and pasted my resume in the box. And early this morning I got a call my first interview is on tues! Hope all goes well. You out should try and look up even in the yellow pages. And try home care. And just send away. Good luck you will be fine and maybe next time don't state you have a relative at the job but when you put in your app ask your relative to put in a good word. That usually works better. Without stating that you are related.
  9. Ugh I was so nervous. I know I messed up a couple of times. It wasn't as strict as they have made it seem. I had prom right shoulder and I just realized I did te left shoulder. Omg. Horrible. I'm glad I passed. And I had urinary drainage and catheter care.
  10. Heyy! I passed!!
  11. I'm rewriting the check list as we speak. That's how I memorize. I have been doing so many index cards lol. You would think I'm studying for my doctorate degree or something!
  12. First off congratulations! No more laundromat work!! Very happy for you. And yes I've read that somewhere too. I just can't wait to take my exam and be certify for sure and feel confident enough to apply. Ugh I'm so nervous. I feel like I am over thinking things and over studying. I can't wait for weds to come already and get it over with!! How soon did you get your results?
  13. Yea I've tried craigslist but it's mostly agencies looking for experienced. I'm gonna do walk ins after I take my exam hopefully I pass! I thought I should go dressed in scrubs but my teacher said to go dressed in slacks and a dress shirt.
  14. Well I take my exam next week but I I finished my training the 30th of April but I didn't state I wasn't certified yet on my resume. And on some jobs I was honest in the cover letter by telling them I was soon taking the exam and neither have yet worked for me. I've been applying a lot though. I'm in NY. I don't have any experience but baby sitting which is what I've done these last two years on and off besides that everything else was retail and customer service. I did not want to include that. Maybe I should. Ive heard a lot of people mention that applying in person is better.
  15. Good luck! Did you apply in person? I started some online looking but no luck. :-(
  16. I actually went on 4cna.com and found it better organized then on youtube.
  17. Hm. I haven't used mine yet because I go to 4cna on youtube. They are good. Sometimes it's confusing because every state has a different way of doing things. But the concept is all the same.
  18. Oh it's more central New Jersey. Have you tried genesis website?
  19. I already had my cpr training & card once before and I still remember the steps but I never renewed it.
  20. Ugh that sucks. Did she mention when the next class will start? Why don't you try to get into and lpn program as soon as you finish high school so that way after the first semester you can challenge the cna exam? And you'll be a young nurse. I have a friend who was an RN by 21. She's 23 now going for her bsn. Do not get discourage I wasn't ready to go to college when I graduated high school my goal was to get into the Air Force first and for some reason I could not pass the asvab entrance exam. I guess it was not meant for me. So I decided I wanted to go to a technical school but had no luck as a medical assistant. I ended up w a customer service job. Then I tried community college but to be honest I had no support and I was very shy and didn't want to sound dumb that didn't work out for me. I continued working as customer service then I decided to just be a stay at home mom and now I am focused trying to get back out there. Luckily for me i will only be 24 in July. I just finished my cna program and you will be surprised how many adults decide to have a career change later in life. Do not get discourage. Just stay in that field. Volunteer that is the best thing you can do because in the work force most places ask for exp. it is def a benefit on your resume. I'm not perfect and I don't have all the experience in the world but I sure want to give you advice and support so that you can reach for your goals. Rejection is fine, the best time you just go harder. So the program can't take you well keep searching you will find a better opportunity!
  21. Your book didn't come w a DVD?
  22. Where in jersey are you? Bridgeway in bridgewater gives the training free. You just pick up an job application hand it directly to the person in charge of hiring. My best friend works there and that is the procedure I went through before I came back to nyc.
  23. Oh ok that is good. You will be fine. They are going to ask you questions just to make sure that cna is something you want to do. You are lucky to have that program I've searched for free programs but I guess god just wanted me to show him how much I really want this that I had to pay out of my pocket and now I have to look for a job w barely no experience. Good luck it is easy. Mostly common sense taking care of an elder in my opinion is similar to a baby. You have to know they're rights like privacy wise and refusal of things is ok. And safety precautions. You will learn all this but if they ask you you know what things would be safe and what wouldn't be safe. But I'm sure they won't ask you any questions regarding those type of things they prolly just want to know about your personality. Let ent me know how it goes and what they do ask you I'm curious. Also if you get accepted. Good luck!! You will be fine.
  24. I was just asking a similar question. Are you gonna move to fl to care for him or will he move to mass? Just curious. I would like some info on this topic too.
  25. Phone interview for? Are you already a cna? Is your goal to become an lpn or RN?
