  2. Are You Cut Out to be an Emergency Department (ED) Nurse?

It's so hard to explain to people what it's like to work in the ED. Getting 3 rescues at once and they all have to be triage fast while you monitor your DKA patient in the next room. Controlled chaos is the way I describe it to people. From overdoses...
  3. Questioning a doctors order

The nursing supervisor should have explained to you why or she probably did not know yourself. I am new myself but our docs have no problems explaing why they ordered or did not order something. I caught an error by a doc who ordered an antibiotic th...

  5. Before you buy a $300 Vein Finder

They make one for 24.99 called Illumivein. I got one in nursing school when I worked as a medic in the ER. It helped but a few thousand IVs in and I don't use it anymore. We use ultrasound for the tough sticks.
  6. Feel stupid

My ER also faxes a report with all of the pertinent ino to the floor. I do my quick head to toe and focus on chief complaint. If I have to give report I focus on how stable they are and what we are dealing with. Maybe let them know what med I passed ...

Graduated in December and took my NCLEX about 1 month later. Walked out feeling like I failed. Had around 100 questions and so many SATA. The one promising thing was my last 5 questions were 3 SATA in a row and the last question I answered I am almo...

  14. Pearson Vue Trick NCLEX RN 2017 265 Questions Wisconsin

  16. Nclex RN january 2017

Hi everyone. I have been following this thread for a while. Graduated in December and have been working and doing questions. Have not done a ton of review after school ended. My test is on Friday and my job is waiting for me. All I have to do is pass...
  17. 40 yr old with GED. Is a MSN even possible?

I was 43 when I started my prerequisites at our state college. I started taking prerequisites and kept going for 4 straight semesters until I had my requirements. As an older student, I was more determined and much fewer distractions. I am 4 months...
  18. Nursing is the Biggest Mistake of My Life

I have one more semester and have been working as an extern at 2 hospitals in florida. I have one job offer when I graduate. My floor is a stepdown unit and we just hired 5 new grads. Maybe the area you are in is not good but my school seems to put o...
  19. pima college wait list...the worst

My school on florida has no wait list. You either get in or apply next time. About 500 plus applicants each semester for about 90 spots. Most in my class applied multiple times and a third applied 3 times. I feel lucky I got in the first time.
  20. Tattoos in Nursing School

You can get thin cover sleeves. Thathis what I wear in clinicals and also the hospital I work for. I bought mine on ebay and they have all different colors.

  22. Am I Too Old to Start School?

I would rethink your path as well. If you are committed to this, one of the best routes is a good ADN program. You can have your license in 2 years and work on your BSN while working. I quit a well paying job of 12 years to go back at 43 and will ...
  23. Pay grade: experienced nurse vs new grad

I work at a Regional Hospital as a PCT while finishing RN school and we do IVs in second semester in the clinical setting. Start to finish. I have heard that some schools don't but I also have seen seasoned nurses that struggle with it. I have a leg ...
