  4. Pay rate for new nurses in the south

Most pay new grads $21/hr in the Kansas City metro area. I moved from Las Vegas to Kansas City this past summer. I had 2.5 years of experience at that time. Was making $30.28 BASE pay at a LV HCA hospital and the HCA hospitals in Kansas and Missou...

  7. VA and Epic EMR

Well, I'm now at the VA and I have to say I HATE their electronic charting and medication systems. First off, they're separate (meaning you have to leave one system and then go into the other). VISTA CPRS is a window operating system - NOTHING lik...

Thanks jeckrn!! I noticed you said 2nd and 3rd shift, so do the nurses in the hospital setting work 8 hour shifts or is it 12 hour shifts? ....I will be on a med/surg/tele floor at the dallas VA hospital.
  12. VA Nurse Pay Scales

  15. Military Spouse! Should I tell them?

I agree with the previous replies - I would say we had a chance to relocate here with my husband's work and we jumped on the deal because I've always wanted to live in San Diego! I'm sure they won't ask what he does for a living - the interview is ...

  17. VA Hiring Process

How do you like the Dallas VA? I applied and had a phone interview with them yesterday, as I live in Nevada. I saw some old posts saying the Dallas VA is the worst. I have a few questions for you, if you would PM me I'd appreciate it!
  18. New grad salary:)

New grad on a med surg floor in a Vegas Hospital will make about $28 and some change per hour. 2 years experience will get ya $30 and some change. There is night and weekend differential. You will have 6-8 patients. Majority, have CNAs round the c...
  19. Las Vegas ER's

100% agree with Hiking Ninja's response.
  20. traveling nurse in las vegas

The ratios are still the same. FYI there isn't a UNLV university hospital. The is UMC which is a county hospital. If you can work (survive and thrive) on a vegas med/surg floor, you can work anywhere!
  21. Drug testing in Las vegas Hospitals...

They don't do hair testing anymore. Just urine and blood.
  22. Wife is an RN, Can't find job in Las Vegas

Best advice possible is to be patient. The Las Vegas RN job market is funny, it goes in spurts of hiring a lot of new grads to not hiring any. When I graduated December of 2012 I couldn't buy a job in a LV hospital. Another suggestion is to look o...
  23. Las Vegas ER

Charting Systems: Valley Hospital System (Summerlin, Centennial, Valley, Spring Valley, Desert Springs) uses a great version of Cerner. Dignity / St. Rose (St. Rose de Lima, Sienna, and San Martin) use a version of Cerner. HCA (Sunrise, Southern Hill...
