Nurse_courtney, when did you schedule you interview for? I got an interview for PCICU also! Scheduled for September 26th.. Wish i could have made it sooner but they left a voicemail on my old phone (switching service provider) and i didn't get to schedule till day after they called. I wonder how many people are interviewing? It seemed like there were a lot of times available...

I'm hoping to get into PCICU! My references sent fairly quickly but I made sure to let them all know what to expect in an email. Hopefully it's an easier shot to get into the Wonter program. I wonder when they will notify us? How far past August...

I have applied and was wondering if anyone else applied? I wonder if it is generally 'easier' to get into the winter NRP?

Im in nursing school right now, and looking to be a CRNA, just wondering if I can kill 2 birds with one stone by working in the NICU ( i wanna work with the babies anyways, while gaining icu exp)... Also, is it possible to specialize with children and babies as a CRNA? Thank you for any input!

Yeah, i have family and my husband to help me. Its something Im gonna have to think about. Thank you guys for giving such detailed answers and not blowing me off! I just dont want my daughter to be like an only child by the time we have another. Shes gonna be all lonely being the only one. If shes five by the time we have another, its pretty much like shes an only child because she will be nowhere near the same milestones... Idk

Have a 19 month old and just got accepted to the university of tennessee BSN program. Im considering having another child so that my daughter can have a sibling close in age. Does anyone have advice for how to get through nursing school with two babies or a newborn? Its obvious that i will need good time management skills, but are there any good tips like how you get through studying and how exactly time is managed? Thanks!

Okay, I'm gonna give you the golden nugget of studying. These are the strategies I used to ace AP1 and 2, and TRUST me, my AP class was extremely difficult, myself and one other girl passed with an A, the rest were Cs and below. Anyways: Study smarter, not harder. Although I'm sure watching videos and recording lectures will help, they wont help as much as just reading the material. What I did was take one day to go through and read a whole chapter, just reading it. Don't stress about what you don't know, the first reading is just to EXPOSE your brain to the information, because it will all be foreign! Make sure you take a break after every hour of reading to relax your mind. Take a walk, take a short nap, etc., then come back prepared and re- amped to read some more fun stuff! Next day, go through the chapter and actually READ TO LEARN. This is the part where you need to know what your reading. Don't move on until you fully grasp the concepts. This is where videos will come in handy. But like I said earlier, take 10-15 minute break every hour of reading. My goal was to get through a chapter a week because thats how our schedule was based, so it might be different for you. NEXT, after going through the whole chapter twice (first time just reading, second getting to actually know the concepts), i would read through that chapter like i was cheating on the test. I would skim though, like I was 'stealing' the important info that i knew was important! This will take one hour total. After all this, you should be good to go. Some people make flashcards for vocabw which helps also! I know how hard it is to have a teacher only do tests and nothing else, just push through and study like your life depends on it. One more thing: enjoy yourself. Love what you're learning like theres no tomorrow and get totally motivated to read. All the information that you need is in that book! Hopefully those that have to take the Kaplan are reading this. I found it to be helpful.

Just took it yesterday and wanted to throw out some pointers and helpful tips. The reading portion was pretty easy, and i don't have much advice for that except don't read the whole thing before reading the questions. You will spend unnecessary time when most of the questions ask about one sentence or paragraph. The math portion is probably 75% fractions, then percentage conversions, ration conversions, and a few word problems pertaining to healthcare. One question was regarding adding a mixed fraction. So just know you fractions and percentages really well, along with medicine word problems. The writing portion was a lot like other people are describing it, which is ridiculous. If you know your verb tenses and punctuation, then you'll be fine. I probably did the worst on the part for reasons i'll explain when I'm done. The science portion was, in my opinion, not that bad. The wanted to know what effects metabolism, the pathway of blood through the heart, what makes brain tissue different from other tissues, primary cause of asthma, where most of the fluid cavities are in the body like interstitial, intracellular, venus, etc), where the oxygen, co2 exchange happens in the lungs, the primary function of the cardiovascular system, etc. mainly know the respiratory system, cardio system, know about PH balance and brain tissue. I cant think of the rest... Anyways, i ended up scoring an 81, whereas most score like 60 or something... I had to drive three hours away, and when i got there i got a call from my father in law saying my daughter had just had a seizure from a rapid spike in temperature, while she was eating bananas. She choked on her bananas and had to be resuscitated. She lost a pulse for ten seconds while being resuscitated, meaning she died and was brought back to life. I spent three hours of this exam crying and worrying for my little girl, and i have no idea what happened between her being brought back to life and me getting the grade I got. Just had to share my experience. It is so crazy to think she might not be here if just a few more seconds had gone by without getting helpIf anyone wants help, i am here! Good luck.

I got a 99% on my lab final, and take my final on thursday. Took my stats exam today and did extremely crappy, im think i might get a B in the class ?

Yes it is a requirement, but they gave an exception because i told them i needed both before i apply, lol. I just took my lab final and got a 92, very excited to be done with lecture final!

Read that the 98th percentile rankings were of people that scored an 83% average. This makes me very nervous. Whos taken the kaplan, and how was it?

I just did my 3rd exam like two weeks ago which covered nervous system, muscular system, and muscular tissue! Finals are on the 7th, so excited to be done! I took ap 2 last semester and ap 1 this semester so i could be done by the time i apply

I go to take the KAPLAN entrance exam in december and just wanted to know if anyone has taken it? Is there anything specific i should study? I dont even know where to study except the study booklet... What caught you off guard about the exam?
