  1. The school's website doesn't have a lot of information. Does anyone know if the program is online? And do you have to find your your own preceptors?
  2. Hello, I'm looking to apply to Nova Southeastern University, since I know they have strong health programs in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Did anyone apply to the APRN-FNP in West Palm Beach? How's the program? Thanks!
  3. How to ask for a new advisor?

My advisor rarely responds to her emails and hasn't been very helpful to me. Is there a way to ask for a new advisor?
  4. How to ask for a new advisor?

Thanks Jules! That was helpful and I agree with you :)
  5. APRN-FNP Nova Southeastern University

Hello, I've heard their staff is difficult and unorganized too
  6. Men's Health NP Specialty

I agree with sfalumberjack007! They really do need to get away with all those subspecialties and work on making things more standardized… it's just unorganized with the way it is right now, and it really isn't necessary for it to be that way. As...
  7. Social Skills in Nursing: The Art of Validation

LOVED reading this article! Thank you!
  8. Some students are saying that advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, and advanced health assessments are challenging and schools use those to weed-out students? Has that been true for your class? Any tips on how to prepare for them? Than...
  9. When is D5NS IV solution given?

When would you choose D5NS, over NS or D5 1/2NS?
  10. Online Fnp program

Georgetown University offers an online FNP program and it has a really good reputation. There's also Kaplan, Keiser, Frontier, and Walden you can look into.
  11. FNP school recommendations in Miami, FL

University of Miami FNP program sounds like one of the best honestly. When did their program first take its first class? And how many students are accepted for each cohort? It sounds like other FNP school in florida need to follow a similar approa...
  12. There are lots of people in your shoes. An MSN should make you much more marketable than someone with only a BSN! I think you will be fine. I called Georgetown University, but these seemed adamant about having a BSN- which makes no sense, so I woul...
  13. When is D5NS IV solution given?

yes, of course- we all know that, but you're in the nurse practitioner forum.
  14. Is there really racism at Wolford College?

I've heard some bad stories about Naples, but it's really ft Myers (it's an hour away from Naples) that seem to have an issue with interracial couples. As soon as you walk into that town, you can feel the negative vibe and stares.
  15. To specialize or not to specialize.

I've been seeing a lot of dual specializations lately. I think a dual NP Adult-Gero/Women's health NP would make you the most marketable.
  16. question to NPs

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck in your journey! The first year of NP really isn't that bad… I would take one class at a time, and if you have to take a semester off like the summers, then be it. There are tons of part-time NP jobs, so y...
  17. What to do after ADN?

Yup! What PMFB-RN said! There's a shortage of graduate level nurses, so if you have a bachelor's already there are plenty of ADN-MSN bridge programs. Without a master's in education, you will be able to teach clinicals, but not in the classroom envi...
  18. 47yrs old in 4days and starting class

There are people that pursue medicine in their 40's! In this modern world, most people are very welcoming and supportive of non-traditional students. Welcome and good luck to you! Acquiring knowledge is a life-long journey and no one should tell y...
  19. quick question re: patho

Advanced patho is certainly a tough class, but it's a very important one too. I would save the book for patho and refer to it as needed when you start your health assessment and clinical rotations.
  20. Thank you!! That helps me a lot to understand what I should be prepared for! I heard some students putting in 20 hours of studying a week for it! Patho and pharmacology are tough I heard. Any other ones I should prepare to take by themselves?
  21. FNP in a pending acreditation University

I never really understood pending accreditation, what happens to all those students that are enrolled and graduate before it gets accredited? I suppose you can attend part-time, just take one class at a time until it gets accredited, then you can ta...
  22. How many hours should I put aside for studying? And any study tips on show to master the reading? Thx!
  23. University of Miami adult-gero Primary Care

Congratulations on getting accepted!! I heard great things about the program! Are you going full-time or part-time? I also was told they offer a refresher course on patho and pharm before the program starts, is that true? Advanced patho, pharm, and...
  24. My family and friends just don't get it lol

Awesome! What a good experience it must be… I'm sure it takes a while to get used to it. I've certainly considered it, but got overwhelmed with the thought of having to pack light… I'm too high maintenance, but now that you've shared some of yo...
  25. Okay, thanks! Are they to be taken in a certain order? So, is it best to take pathophysiology first, then advanced health assessment, and pharmacology last? Good luck to all in the program! It's hard work but I'm sure it'll be all worth it at the...
