    How often does this happen?

I have read other posts here on AN where new nurses are let go during probationary period and simply told that they "are not a good fit." Other times, if NM wants you gone, s/he will go looking for...
  2. I know we can't give/get legal advise on this site - but I would ask your lawyer about suing for wrongful termination. And I suspect your local news media might like to know what happens to nurses...

    Breaking Free From Nursing

With the economy how it is - what career would one switch to? And is any other field of work any better? Spend thousands more on another degree? Not that exiting nursing doesn't cross my mind on a...

such bureaucracy... (kind of a rant)

Sometimes nurses can start orienting on the unit and then get into the orientation class when it starts....that is BS that they don't tell you when your start date is, especially if it is 3-4 months...

    Fired!

Just curious Chica - did you tell your current employer what happened or did they ask about previous employment?

    Officially giving up

Back when there was a "shortage" (9 years ago)- I got tuition reimbursement from my employer while working as a CNA. The good old days, lol. I would not have done it otherwise. From what I have...

    Couldn't believe he did this...

I googled this topic - having trouble posting the link but it appears these "residential care facilities " are more prevalent in WA/OR but gaining momentum in other states...

    Couldn't believe he did this...

Is the facility licensed? Do you get state inspections? I worked with a CNA who was also from WA state. She told me there she was a med aide (not sure where) right out of high school. Apparently...

OP - just curious - who owns this "group home" that you are working in - like a private individual or a corporation? I have read that this type of setting is an emerging trend in elder

    Asked to break the law

I don't know much about OR...why were you asked to leave? Would it have anything to do with the Dr. "liking" the LPN more? If you decide to report to BON I would be concurrently looking for another...

    Help with becoming a nurse!

Pick a program (or programs) find out what the prereqs are and start on them. That is about all you can do. They are usually competitive - have a "plan b" in case you don't get in. In choosing a...
  19. I know you say you can't relocate but for anyone reading this thread who is considering nursing school - know that it is something you may have to do if you want a good nursing job. Like a PP said,...

Do all nurses want to work in a hospital?

Not positive on this but aren't nursing jobs actually moving "out"of the hospital setting? With more emphasis on preventative care - such as home

Regional Attitude Towards Long Term Care Nurses

From what I've read on other posts, LTC doesn't "count" in terms of pay grade going from LTC to acute care. You start out at new grad wages. Even if it is "Apple and oranges" there are a lot of...

You think the "Nursing Glut" is bad now?

There are a lot of issues r/t to nursing that are certainly scary (staff to patient ratios is a big one that comes to mind) yet nurses seem powerless to do anything about them. I am debating going...
