  1. Took it in fall of 2012. Mine was supposed to be to be an extremely hard class. First two tests got below an 80. Other tests I got a 90 or better on. Had an A in lab, and got my unknown on the first test (so it wasn't bad for me). Did most of it on m...
  2. What is your degree in other than nursing?

    B.S. Human development
  3. I had to withdraw from a few nursing courses after working for the first time this semester during school. I realize now it wasn't the smartest thing to do. So in the event I decide to retake those classes I will not be working. Or I've been accepted...
  4. What would you do in this situation?

I think if I'm right Excelsior does the RT to RN bridge program along with paramedics etc. I also have the option of doing the LPN program at the local community college. I feel so defeated after this semester. I got sick this past year and already h...
  5. Getting my foot in the door...

Contact anyone you know in a hospital. Let them know you're interested in whatever job you will take. Some start off as secretaries then go to techs and once they finish school they become an RN. I had a family friend work in an area I currently wor...
  6. I feel just defeated. I'm going PRN status at work so that should help some. Any tips for studying?
  7. This semester is kicking my butt

I'm failing two of my classes. I'm busting my butt from reading everything, rereading, nclex style questions the whole thing. Finally my dad said if I had to retake a class it was no big deal just to have a goal for myself. I then had a come to Jesus...
  8. I have searched high and low on how to study. I'm passing and doing pretty decent in my other courses and clinicals. It is stressing me out. What made mental health nursing class easier for you or how did you improve?
  9. Failed my first med surg test

I think its the weeding out thing. I asked a student who is repeating and they said everyone failed it. 80 is a C at my program.
  10. Failed my first med surg test

I have done everything that was asked of me. I did the nclex questions for practice, reread notes and the chapters. I have the success series and hogan series. I'm just confused on what I did since I left feeling at least I passed. Our hardest topic ...
  11. cliques in nursing school

I'm in a different co hort then I started. This cohort is super friendly compared to my old one. If I have a day I get sick the notes are forwarded to me. I do not have to hesitate and ask for help. There have been a few I roll my eyes at but I ignor...
  12. My mom won't let me be a nurse. How do I convince her?

Actually the hospital is one of the safest places to work as in security wise. I know that ER and Mental health in my hospital constantly have police officers running to each unit. My dad told me he didn't want me to apply to nursing school because h...
  13. studytime

I like to go to the gym and study. I also burn extra calories while I study. So that is a plus :) Plus it's a stress reliever.
  14. To students please don't be rude when I know how detailed is an assignment is and you disrespectfully ignore me when I said something about it the first place...you wonder why it took you so long?
  15. Every person I asked how they study or former tutors say they don't know. Most say they just got through with luck. I can tell this is going to make this semester long!
  16. I had to take a break from the semester in the fall as well. Make sure you're getting 7-8 hours of sleep at least during the week for clinicals and classes if you're on antibiotics. I'm in a much more understanding cohort now. Everyone at school has ...
  17. Go to tutoring or whatever you may need. Professors do pick up when you are busting your butt to get good grades. They do keep a record of who goes to tutoring. I know which professors I'll be going to for references.
  18. I have probably done over 300 questions and I feel like the clicking part of understanding questions is being slow. I'm trying to practice a few a day assuming I get my reading for the day done. Also I do record my lectures.
  19. Tips to stay focused

I alternate subjects every hour when I don't have my care plan. That way I can't get bored.
  20. Starting my 1st Semester of Nursing School tomorrow

If you are taking fundamentals, mental health, or med surg, there is one for each. I swear by the incredibly made easy series and works well for visual learners.
  21. Failed my first pathphysiology exam

In A&P I would draw out the concept or pathology if I didn't understand it. I used a white board and markers for it. I made A's :)
  22. Study tips for Nursing classes

I went to two different tutors at school this week. They are upper level nursing students. Go see a tutor and see how they study. Asking them how they study would be better since each school's class is different.
