I'm going to be starting the Pediatric Dual Primary/Acute Care Program this fall also! I've been trying to search for others starting this fall, and you are the first I've seen! Have you registered already?
  3. CNA's in a NICU setting

I work in an 84 bed Level IV NICU and our CNA's are involved in a lot. They help stock, set up for admissions, cleaned incubators, and helped out with the front desk area. They also did help with feeding some of our feeder growers who were close to d...

  8. when would you start CPR on an unconscious patient

I think if you can actually feel a pulse you wouldn't start compressions. If they're unconscious and bradycardic I think you would give atropine.

Thanks for all of the replies! I'm in a new graduate program that rotates to all of the ICUs in the hospital and burn just happens to be my first rotation. Burn is just not for me. I'm not a huge fan of the humongous dressing changes that accompany t...
  11. JUST a nurse

So I recently graduated, passed my NCLEX (yay!), and started my first job as a nurse. I've run into a few people (non-healthcare) who have asked me in these exact words 'So are you going on to become a doctor or are you just nursing it?'. Or I get as...

  13. I'm finally an RN!

  18. UCF BSN Spring 2014 Hopefuls / Applicants Daytona Cocoa Campus

There were people in our class who got in with a GPA lower than a 3.5. The interview helps a lot with them trying to see the whole person instead of just grades on paper.
  19. UCF BSN Spring 2014 Hopefuls / Applicants Daytona Cocoa Campus

Don't over think the questions they ask you. They're really friendly and in my interview they weren't intimidating at all. I think the only time you may need to review material is 2nd semester when you take patho because it relies heavily on A&P....
  20. UCF BSN Spring 2014 Hopefuls / Applicants Daytona Cocoa Campus

The interviews weren't stressful at all. They made everything really relaxed and it was more of a conversation between the applicants.
  21. UCF BSN Spring 2014 Hopefuls / Applicants Daytona Cocoa Campus

I think you definitely have a chance if you can get at least the minimum TEAS score. I was in the same boat as you in regards to the TEAS score and I got in. They try to look at the whole picture with grades, TEAS, and interview so don't count yourse...
  22. UCF BSN Spring 2014 Hopefuls / Applicants Daytona Cocoa Campus

The program isn't easy at all, but if you put in effort it's definitely doable. If you get in, my advice for first semester is to get organized asap. First semester isn't too difficult with material, they're just going to throw a lot at you at once s...
