  1. HHRN relocating to Phoenix area

I'm a RN with ICU, ER, and IMCU hospital experience currently working in Home Health and loving it. I'm looking to relocate to the Phoenix area this summer and would like to stay working in Home Health. I did visit one company the end of last year ...
  2. What do you love/hate about home health nursing?

I have been doing HH for almost two years and wouldn't trade it for anything! I take calls, and all of my pts have my phone number to contact me any time. Pros: Having one patient at a time to deal with, learning about their lives and helpi...
  3. What do HH RN Case Managers do?

I am a CM but I'm in the field following up and keeping track of all my pts. The only problem I have is the communication between the nurses seeing my pts who draw labs and the doctors receiving the labs. I'm not in the office so I have no idea who...
  4. Organizing your car

I have a large plastic bin for dry wound care supplies, a med bin for supplies that are wet and additional liquids like flushes and NS for wound cleaning, and a small bin for IV supplies and dsg change kits. I have a VERY LARGE bin in the house for ...
  5. What bag/attire/organization???

I use a diaper bag that came with an additional smaller bag that I use for my IV/blood draw supplies. I love it. And I wear scrubs unless I'm seeing one or two pts...that's only on a day that I volunteer and can pick and choose what pts to see.
  6. Home Health RN Pay Per Visit HELP

Wow. And I thought I was going to make more money when I relocated! I make more money than any of you posting here, and I live in a tiny spot in southern IL!
  7. New grad pay- Southern Illinois

Well, like I said, I don't know if it varies from unit to unit or whatever, but I make about 38,000/yr and been there almost three months. And the benefits are excellent too.
  8. New grad pay- Southern Illinois

I make more than that, but perhaps it's because of the unit I'm on. I don't know. Do you work there? I work on IMCU.
  9. New grad pay- Southern Illinois

I'm back in southern Illinois and making just under $19/hr. Sucks though, cause I was making over $23/hr in a small town in Wisconsin!!
  10. Is there anybody on here from Southern Illinois just curious

I'm in Herrin. Funny to read posts from the folks by I-80. I was born and raised in Joliet and Springfield was southern Illinois. In fact, I was 21 before I found out that Illinois didn't end there! LOL!
  11. How long does it take to get endorsed in IL?

I got my temp license in ten days. Praise God!!
  12. I am in Herrin and will be starting my new job at Carbondale Hospital. My sister works there already, and I did my LPN clinicals there a few years ago. Marisol, did you move here?
  13. Has anyone worked at these hospitals in IL?

Do NOT consider working at Heartland. It's located in Marion, IL, but it's not got a good reputation here. They are a for profit hospital, and this means the patient to staff ratio is 1:10-12. No way would I work under those conditions.
  14. CNA's passing meds in Long Term Care

After working in a CBRF in an attempt to clean it up after several violations (this in Wisconsin), and coming across a med error where a PCW (personal care worker, NOT even a CNA) gave a resident 20cc of Morphine instead of Carafate....well, I'm tota...
  15. Where are you?

    What's NOVA?
  16. I'm possibly moving to the Charlottesville/Richmond area this summer. I will be a new RN (been a LPN for a few years prior) and am looking for a job that will not only benefit me in where I want to go with my career, but will be a place that can hel...
  17. Needing info about bonuses Char'ville, Richmond areas

    Bumping this for info.
  18. New graduate RN pay in Richmond

Depends on what shift you work. I interviewed with Bon Secour two weeks ago and they start out about $21 for day shift. I'm not sure if that's the going rate, but it's pretty competitive in Richmond. I graduate on Wednesday. Congrats!! I've been a...
  19. Where are you?

I will be living near Louisa in late July and have had two interviews with Bon Secour and have three more lined up with VCU. So, which one should I take? Decisions, decisions......
  20. New grad pay- Southern Illinois

I'm wondering what they are considering 'southern Illinois'. I know people who think that the St. Louis area is 'southern Illinois'. I moved to Green Bay from near Carbondale (that's in southern Illinois....LOL!) because the pay was horrible and the...
  21. We had a resident at the nursing home in Wisconsin I work at die at the breakfast table about a month ago. She was being fed oatmeal when she suddenly dropped her head, wasn't breathing, non-responsive, and was bluish. The RN on duty called me and an...
  22. Is there a gray area to a DNR order?

I wasn't present in the DR, but the resident was at a feeding table where there are several other residents with CNA's feeding them. All of the CNA's agreed that she didn't cough at all...that she was eating one moment, and was dead the next. Just ...
  23. Is there a gray area to a DNR order?

The housekeeper was fired for violating HIPPA law, and the CNA feeding the resident was fired because she continued to attempt to feed her after she'd stopped breathing. The state didn't go on what the housekeeper said, they just started the investig...
  24. DNR

Perhaps I should start my own thread asking my questions.
  25. DNR

I know this thread is quite old, but I found it while searching this topic on the internet, and this situation almost applies to what the nurses at my job are facing now. We had a resident at the nursing home in Wisconsin I work at die at the breakfa...
