  1. I just called nursing recruitment regarding interviews because I was curious if I would have to fly out twice for a second interview (this first interview is costing me nearly $1000 because it fell on the Monday after thanksgiving). They said that they would likely not do phone interviews for second interviews for those of us coming from out of state. Does anybody know anything about this process for out of state applicants?
  2. I saw that too. I don't know if it's accurate. It's pretty discouraging if it is.
  3. I did not receive an offer to do a phone interview based on my out-of-state status. I received an email to sign up for a time slot like everyone else. I just really hope I'm not spending all of this money for nothing if not being able to attend a second interview will take me out of the running..
  4. Does anybody know the process after the first interview? I fly out the day after my interview around 4pm because I need to be back in Minnesota by Thursday. I'm nervous that there will be second interviews and I won't be able to attend. I really can't afford another flight out there to interview.
  5. Mine is on December 1st. I would have preferred the 7th since airline tickets were astronomical flying in the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend
  6. I got an email for perinatal too! What day is your interview?
  7. Thanks! Just thought I'd mention that I don't remember seeing anybody's status change for med-surg either, so don't lose hope!
  8. I have not seen anybody receiving interviews for med-surg. You aren't the only one without an interview so far! My status actually changed on 10/29 and I did not receive an invite in my email yesterday for an interview. Despite my status change, I am feeling a little discouraged right now too. Hang in there!
  9. Does anybody know if interviews have gone out for perinatal?
  10. Where are you seeing this info on Facebook? I've looked for a group for this cohort but couldn't find one.
  11. I have a previous career in mental health services and working in domestic violence shelters. Nursing is my second degree. I applied for perinatal, ED, and psych. My online application status changed 10/29.
  12. Does anybody know how soon they notify about interview dates after the status change? I'm getting anxious to book my flight!
  13. My status changed to "routed to interviewing supervisor"! :) I applied for perinatal, ED, and psych.
  14. Mine hasn't changed. I think it depends on the units you applied for. I also applied the first day that the application opened.
  15. Mine hasn't changed yet... I keep checking it constantly...!
  16. Also, I wonder why they are extending the application period? Does anybody know if they have done this in previous years?
  17. My preceptorship is in the NICU, which I was planning on putting as my top choice. However, NICU is not listed for this cohort... I applied to perinatal for my top choice since I actually would prefer to do L&D, but we couldn't do our preceptorship in L&D specifically at my school (only postpartum with a potential to possibly be planted in L&D). I hope it doesn't hurt my chances of getting hired in perinatal. I also chose the ED since I think it would be interesting for me and I've worked as a medical scribe in the ED. Additionally, I chose psych because I have a previous degree in psychology and 3 years of full-time work experience working with mental health before returning to nursing school. I hope that the variety in my choices doesn't look bad...
  18. Yea, my understanding is that it is a long process in CA, so that kept me from applying to other programs that required that license be in hand by the start day. I plan to get my fingerprints done tomorrow and submit the payment for the application. Hopefully my payment is "processed" by January so that there's no delay in getting my ATT and interim permit by the time they receive my transcript with the posted degree. Not sure how it works sending things in pieces, but it's really my only option if I don't want to wait until late January to start the "processing". Why must it take so long?! Haha
  19. I can't apply for endorsement because I still don't have my MN RN... graduate in December. I'm applying for licensure by examination through California to expedite the process and not have to wait for endorsement after receiving my license. I plan on officially applying for license by examination in the next week or so after I send get my fingerprints done. I obviously will have to wait to get approval to test until after the CA BON receives my transcript with my degree posted (late January I'm told by my school). However, the website for BON says that the interim permit will be granted as soon as the BON receives proof that you have completed an accredited nursing program. So I'm hoping the interim permit will start processing in late January and be approved by March, with my license hopefully following a few weeks later depending on how long that process takes.
  20. Initially, I was going to apply to other hospitals. However, because I am coming from out of state, I am nervous that I will not have my license by the start date of the programs. UCLA does not require you to have an RN to start, only an interim permit. Granted, my license will likely be processing by then, I don't want to depend on the California BON when it comes to a job and moving across the country. I figured UCLA was the only safe place to apply to and not have to worry so much about that aspect :)
  21. Yes, there is a place that will ask you to upload a resume, cover letter, and two letters of recommendation after you submit the application! :)
  22. I hope so! :) I just realized that I uploaded two cover letters instead of a cover letter and resume because I mislabeled the documents when I uploaded..... I can't withdraw and resubmit because it says that I will not be able to apply for the position if I withdraw. I called HR who forwarded my call to nurse recruitment. I got their voicemail because they are busy.. Thinking about withdrawing and re-applying under a new login profile... but I'm nervous that this will potentially look weird. I hope they return my call to give me some direction on what to do! What a stupid mistake. Just happy I caught it!
  23. I applied to perinatal, ED, and Psych. I was really disappointed that the NICU wasn't offered for this cohort since I'm completing a 225 hour preceptorship in the NICU this semester... bummer. Crossing my fingers that if I get an interview it doesn't fall on my graduation ceremony date in December! :)
  24. Hi everyone! The application for the new grad program at UCLA for the Winter 2016 cohort opens today. Finally! It feels like I've been waiting in anticipation for so long. Any other hopefuls applying for this cohort? I figured I'd start a thread so we could update each other on the status of our applications and such... I know I've poured over many threads from the past cohorts to try to get more info! Good luck everyone who is applying!
  25. Thanks for calling! :)
