Fingers crossed ... my training in my first year was called CFP- Common Foundation Programme which entailed theory of Adult, Mental health but not sure I came across a guy on another website and he too is Peads from UK trained at the same uni I did and he left UK for USA same period as you. He said he was plesantly surprised as Paed nurse that CGFNS didnt require any make up. I am just praying I get pass this and approve to do NCLEX. Im struggling with Nclex lol but will get it together for sure. Just hard to study and do the tests online in between work. So tired when i get in from shifts. I wanted to check, you mentioned about retrogression but I have heard of nurses that have recently gone through the agency Im with and it took 18months. so is this retrogression still going on? The agency said its slow but they had several nurses that have gone through. Im so stressing ...trying to keep my cool though. awaould be good to talk to you about the journey and also stragey you used to pass NCLEX ...i find it slightly difficult. thanks again /.....

Hi Brightlyaura!!! Its such a relief to see your comment above. I am now going through the process and transcripts just been sent to CGFNS but im so stressed out as im seeing all these threads about making up hours. I also had a brief chat with someone who also was approved for NCLEX without any make up and he actually did Peadiatric same as me ! Can you send me message so we can have a talk i just had a few questions. I too am heading ( well fingers cross all goes well|!!!) for New York where my family lives- in Queens. Hi raistke1 I too going through the process and now having my transcript send from uk to CGFNS. im so stressed out and worried as i have been reading these threads about making up hours. now in UK there are NO uni from what i know to making up hours like years ago when previopurs nurses did and went through. sooooo stressed can yhou also send me the info. Heres the WORST part I qualified last year as Paeds nurse but i did my first year doing common foundation which was generic really ie mixed and had most classes with adutls etc

Hi Madwife, I have been registered a year now but i still dont know how to send a PM ... I think i see in threads and that means private message. Im a newly qualified nurse in London and has startede the process of trying to get CES report etc as i want to migrate to states. I did the opposite that most nurses from UK studied. I studied Paediatrics however in my first year I did the Commom Foundation Programme ( CFP) were i did theory in adults, mental health etc and all the nursing branches were mixed ie we all did the same 'common foundation' . I came across a guy that did exact course and worked at the said hospital i am working now in london. He did paeds and he was fine getting through CGFNS that was in 2007. So im not sure and he didnt do any made up hours; He had mentioned that I read threads by yourself or Suzanne about UK nurse wanting to get to USA. Also I do hold a SSN# as i worked in New Hampshire when i was youger on a short term work related J1 visa. please let me know how best i could get to speak with you on my aboe issue. Thanks Justbeachy nurse. Sorry I had problems posting early , it kept on doing multiple posts and i didnt know how to delete. Ok sound no social work credits can be use. Got it. I have dont some theory in mental health in my first year of traning in whats called, 'Common foundation programme' which was more adult base and complete essays on vulnerable adults- mental health but i guess as i had no clinical placement in adults , then thats a BIG problem can you or anyone PLEASE let me know if theres any way a UK trained paed (children) nurse got through or around this and was able to work in states????? HELPPPP Also few years ago i have lived there two years so i still have my social security number. Is there any colleges or uni in states ( esp. New York) that i would be able to do courses in just the adult mental health etc that i need???

Please can you reply to my question again thanks I am in such a daze as I am in the opposite position but would like someone to clarify. The other thing is i also hold a degree in social work and in my socialwprk i did mental health with adults and could get those transcript..SO WOULD THAT PRACTICE HOURS AND MY THEORY HOURS BE ACCEPTABLE FROM A SOCAIL WORK DEGREE???? my social work degree i had mental helath placement working with adults, both theory and practice not in hospital but in a centre and also outreach where i had to visit them in the home.

Thanks guys for your replies. Do anyone know if there are make up courses in the states that I could do? Are there any online ones? I am still currently living in Uk and trying to get this sorted ie additional credits in the above subject areas and i guess also clinical ? Please let me know if you do know of any especially in NY as i have alot of family there. Equally, does anyone know of any other make up courses in UK for Peads nurses wanting to make up the clinical and theory adult etc hours?? Brighton Uni no longer runs the programme- I rang them.

I am a Uk train Paediatric nurse and unfortunately i notice most of the UK nurses are Adult trained. Is this anyone with any valuable information that I could get as i am starting to research how i can get started to work in the USA as a qualified RN. I did peads in UK and so not sure as everyone i see commenting on the forums seem to be Adult UK trained. I just need answers so i can proceed. I will contact New York Education state on nursing to see what i would need short of the course for credentials to eb verified etc ??? help i am soooooo lost

Hi, Silverdragon. I am a uk nursing student just qualified but my situation is soooo different. I did the children nursing ( peads) . But in my first year in CFP- i did essays and theor on vulnerable adults, mental health but not sure if these will be counting by BON in states, can you shed some light for me as peads UK trains i am starting to reseach this early as i was told this process can be a year but with deficiencies in hours i am getting lost and not sure what to do. help!!!

Im planning on New York. I qualified in 2010. And RN- children/ Peadiatrics. Where I only did some of the other sections you mentions but as you know the UK we do specialist areas which mine was children.,# I have previously lived in states in NH yearsssss agao and so i do still have a SSN. I heard that New York states would be able to take UK Peads train nurses for say children hospitals there. Please clarify or give any information where I start my research for new york RN etc thats Work visa, or immigration info. Also, is there a way hospitals can employ on a specific and if short they would apply to train me on the job? I am not sure what this is called but a US citizen told me this?/ confusedddddd

Hi I am also interested in finding out about nursing in the states, I am a British Citizen and I know i have to do NCLEZ and also get my RN - qualification check by the GNCFS?? I have under a years experience however, this is forthe near future after gainning another years experience., Can you please let me know about the preocess.
