  1. Can someone give me some information on the asn eve and weekend program? How many nights do you attend class and how many clinicals do you have with each semester through out the program.? I am appling for the spring 07 asn program and would like to hear from some past or current students. Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks, for the responses, and StudentNurseAbby your are right about whether or not I will want to spend the time and money retaking the classses. I guess I will seek outside help through the writing center if I need help with writing papers in the future. :)
  3. I would like to know if anyone has found it helpful take retake english 101. I am a pre-nursing student hoping to get in the BSN program next fall. I will be writing alot of papers and the last time I took english class was back in the early 90's. I just want to be prepared to write all of these papers, because I feel that I am not a good writer. I also was thinking if I should just get help through my college which has writing tutors to assist you with writing your papers. When I took english 101 back in the 90's I made a C, and in english 102 I received a B, so if I retake this class and get a higher grade it should also help me with getting my gpa up also. :)
  4. I have never worked in a hospital as a unit secretary, and I do not have any children. I believe that if you need tution assistance to help with school that would be a good idea, but you should also think about college whether or not you college has evening programs or day programs for when you do get into nursing school. You made a good point though about working around nurses at the hospital. If you are concerned about not being there for your children then maybe you should stay at home, but why keep doing a job you no longer enjoy. I also have never worked nights, but it really depends on if your willing to make some sacrifices or changes to reach your goals. Hope that helps a little. Goodluck with your decision.
  5. I appreciate the comments everyone have made on this subject. I will just take the class and try to learn enough info to get a good grade. I have looked at the syllabi and there are no papers to write, nor are there any concerts to attend, unless this information is not listed in the syllabi, also as I stated before the instructor will grade you on the average of three tests, so that does not sound to bad to only have 3 tests in a seven week course. :)
  6. Has any one taken a music class as a pre-req for a BSN degree? Does any one think that this will be a easy class to get an A out of. I attend Maryville University in St.louis and this class will meet weekly for 7 weeks and is worth 2 credits, the teacher will grade us on the average of 3 exams.
  7. :) Oh my goosh I thought I was the only person whose eyes fill up with tears when I think of the reality that one day I will become an RN. I just get so exicted knowing that one day I will be in nursing school learning all the things I need to know to become a nurse. It makes me feel proud knowning that I have chosen a career not only because of the good pay I will be making, but also because I love helping patients. I'm also hooked on discovery health chanel especially the ones that focous on the roles of nurses.
  8. congrats on a job well done, and goodluck with your cna classes.
  9. I was told by one of the Doctor's that I work for the orther day, that I'm doing a good job in the office, but when I give my IM injections to patients in the hips I was told that I was going up to high. He also stated that some patients have complained of pain shooting down there legs. I know of one instance that a patient told me that after I gave him an injection. I have been a RMA for 7 years, and was taught that IM inj goes into the gluteus medius. So I asked the doctor, so your saying that I should put the inj in the gluteus maximus not the medius and he told me yes. I have always used my boundaries also, he also asked me if I knew about the quadrants, which I do. So my question is am I giving injections wrong by putting them in the upper outer quadrant of the gluteus medius?, Or should I do as the Doctor says by putting IM injections down lower in the gluteus maximus? :stone
  10. I can't waite because I have always wanted to become a nurse. I was accepted into a nursing program back in the mid 90's, but dropped out before I even started classes, because of people telling me how difficult it will be, and not having enough confidence in myself that I could do it. So after that a few years later I went to Medical assisting school which I enjoyed, I have been a Registered Medical Assistant for seven Years. I am going back to school now to get my RN degree at the encourgement of my husband, who use to allways tell me not out of meanness, that you could have been a nurse right now if you would have stayed in school. So now I am more determined than ever and very exicited about learning all of this medical information in nursing school, and to continue to help my patients by obtaining more advanced medical knowledge. :) The great pay and the variety of fields that I will be able to pursue comes in handy ,also the flexible hours that nurses can work.
  11. :) Thanks for the advice, you made a good point about the med term hearing the instructor pronouce the terms, also you are right this is not a race. I need to get my gpa ^ so why take a chance on taking all this classes if not neccessary right now. I think I will waite to take this class probably in the fall or by itself. I am a returning student after over 12 years from college, and I do want to make sure I have my good study habits in place before I try to increase my course load. This semester I only had one class to really focous on which was A&P I. Thanks again for the advice. :)
  12. I am taking Micro & A&P II this summer starting May 13, to Aug 15, these classes will be every other week. I was also thinking about taking a online Medical Term course this summer also for 11 weeks. I received an A out of Anatomy and will have the same teacher this summer, my question is has anyone else done this before? Do you all think it is possible to get A's out of all these classes. I need to get my GPA up in order to be accepted to Nursing school. I will also find out sooner whether or not I will be accepted to the fall of 06 progam. I just feel like I need to know as soon as possible so I can start planning and getting things in order before I get into the program. Thanks in advance to everyone :)
  13. I will be taking A&P II and Micro from May 13 thur Aug 15, I will be attending these classes every orther week, friday eves, and Sat and Sun mornings, I will be very busy this summer that's for sure with all the studying I will have to do for both classes, but I am determined to do my best.
  14. :) That was a very good point you made, why not pay off your debt first instead of adding to it as soon as you graduate from nursing school. :)
