Has anyone retaken english 101

 I would like to know if anyone has found it helpful take retake english 101. I am a pre-nursing student hoping to get in the BSN program next fall. I will be writing alot of papers and the last time I took english class was back in the early 90's. I just want to be prepared to write all of these papers, because I feel that I am not a good writer.

I also was thinking if I should just get help through my college which has writing tutors to assist you with writing your papers. When I took english 101 back in the 90's I made a C, and in english 102 I received a B, so if I retake this class and get a higher grade it should also help me with getting my gpa up also. :)

I haven't retaken it but I have recently taken Eng. 101. It has helped me some with writing because I took a few years off before going to college after high school, it was a nice refresher course in some ways. It's hard to say whether it will help you the way you want to be helped. My advice would be if you could get a writing tutor or if you're college has a writing group or center that can help you out when you're having trouble it would probably help you out more. It would be direct help. If you take Eng. 101 it's time and money to spend and you're not sure if the way the professor teaches will be directed towards helping with writing skills. A lot of professors teach Eng. 101 or any freshman English differently.

It's up to you but I think a writing tutor would be a great help to you if you're having problems when you start out writing papers.

Good luck!:)

I took English 101 back in 1991, and made an B. In order to even have a chance to get into the school where I am trying to get into, I had to retake it.

So, I took it in a winter-mester. It was overall a 4 week class, but actually 1 1/2 weeks before Christmas and 1 1/2 weeks after Christmas with one week off for Christmas...around 600-word papers due the next day...ouch!...lol

I did make an A, and really enjoyed the class, though.

If you decide to retake it, I think it will help at least to get back into the mindset of writing. Purchasing a MLA Writer's Handbook will help too. (Is that what it's called?)

Good luck in whatever you decide to do!! :)

Thanks, for the responses, and StudentNurseAbby your are right about whether or not I will want to spend the time and money retaking the classses.

I guess I will seek outside help through the writing center if I need help with writing papers in the future. :)

Writing centers are great. That's what they're there for. :)

Again, good luck. You'd be surprised what the mind can remember, maybe you're not such a bad writer afterall.
