Quick question about inpatient
Ok then where I'm working does the norm I guess. I was surprised to see how little actual therapy goes on in an inpatient setting. If it were my child, I would assume they were getting daily therapy.

Quick question about inpatient
For those of you who work inpatient mental health, especially those with the child/adolescent population, how often do your patients receive individual therapy? Group therapy?

Hazing in school
Nope, not KSU :-) and for a fundies Sim lab it was skills we hadn't covered. I get the pushing and putting students under stress. I own the fact that I got flustered and shut down. I also understand that in being somewhat vague I'll never get anyone to agree with me. Bottom line, I still find it bullying when a prof shows visible enjoyment in piling on frustration and says so in the post conference. At this point tomorrow is the final and it will be done.

Hazing in school
Yes, I learned that when I call a provider I'm to manipulate them into giving me the orders I want. However, I don't feel taking joy in furthering the frustration of a student is good educational practice and borders on bullying. So I will amend my original opinion to say it was bullying instead of hazing. I don't want to give too many details so as not to identify my program.

Hazing in school
So today was my lab final and to say it was a disaster would be kind. Evidently I had a target on my and my prof even said " I was ornery today and the more frustrated you got the more I wanted to frustrate you." I know nurses eat their young, I didn't figure it would start in the first semester in school.

Career Switchers
I was an elementary school teacher for 9 years. At one point I was halfway to a masters in English as a second language instruction.

How can I know if I have a good chance in getting in Nursing School?
I know at my school you needed a 3.7 at least to make the cut. Ours was a point system too. 10*prereq GPA +2 bonus points if you have a degree for a max of 42 points. They tally everyone's points and then take the top 50 I think.
-
what did you have a previous degree in before you went into nursing?
I have a be in elementary ed, and half a masters in English as a second language instruction. I taught for 9 years and knew the entire time it was not for me. I am a can while in school and even on my worst day I still love it more than teaching.

Teaching vs nursing?
I could have written your post. God willing I will start nursing school in the fall after teaching for 9 years and staying home for 6. I just couldn't continue in the classroom. I work as a can now and have loved it.

What's harder, nursing school or the education program to be a teacher?

Does your hospital require color coded scrubs?
We are given an annual gift for uniforms that can only be used with a terrible vendor. We can also use the one shop in town allowed to embroider our logo but you must buy the scrubs there. In the military you must wear the uniform which can only be purchased through 1 place. Enlisted soldiers are given annual allowances but officers get a one time amount.

Question about becoming a nurse
That is what I figured. We have a list of 4 possible places and Germany is not high on my list because it sets back my school timeline.

Question about becoming a nurse
I'm not sure where this should be posted so please move it if needed. My husband is in the army and we could possibly move to Germany this spring. I have finished my pre reqs for nursing school and was planning on going to school at our next duty station. Can I go to school in Germany and get licensed here in the states? Or do I need to go to school state side. Our other choices are NY, CO and HI. THanks

A&P with Chemistry
I took Chem and A&P1 together. Chem was a retake for me as my original Chem expired. (My nursing program wants all sciences w/in the last 5 years). That said, it was a crazy semester as I was also in College Algebra (also a retake) and I have 3 kids. But I got through it all

Tired of kids coming to the nurse...
I taught for 9 years and when my little darlings would tell me their tummy hurt I would tell them to go use the restroom and don't come back until they pooped or puked. They would be horrified when I suggested it but 90% of the time they'd come back grinning having sat for a few minutes in the restroom.

Can you go into the Air Force, Army or Navy Reserves as an OB nurse
I can't speak to anything other than, you can not join the military and expect to never deploy. That is unrealistic. Lot's of soldier deploy and leave children, stepchildren and grandchildren at home in the care of spouses, family or friends.

Anyone else think HIPAA rules are getting out of hand?
I don't know, I would not be happy if my children's medical information, including medications, was shared with family members, including grandparents, without my specific permission. You never know the family dynamic.

Going through first drill unprepared for us army reserve? help advice pls..
Good golly get yourself to a good sew shop, it can be off base and order yourself name tapes, and US Army tapes. You will also need a VELCRO flag, unit patch and rank. You know your patrol cap needs rank and name tape as well? I also strongly suggest getting yourself the Army Officers handbook. It will have all this information in it. As an officer you will need to be the example and there is not excuse for not having your things together. If need be go up to drill a day early because the sew shops need a day to make the tapes. Quite honestly if you take your uniform pieces in they will square you away. I'll say it agian, don't forget your patrol cap and the rank and name tape for it!
