CNA/STNA Stethoscope Dilemma?
I am a nursing major and have decided to get my Nursing Aide license over the summer for some experience. I will need a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff for supplies... however I can't decide if I should just go ahead and go all out and get a Littmann because I will be attending nursing school or a get something kinda cheap for everyday use working as a CNA/STNA? What do you suggest? (Sorry if this is in the wrong thread - I am rushing. I leave for work in 10 minutes lol)

How far do you travel?
Oh I feel soooo bad for you. Thank you for your recommendations! Bleh...driving wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't my least favorite thing to do!

How far do you travel?
Hello Nursing Students, I have a question for you all! I've recently gotten to the point of applying to nursing school (FINALLY - THANK GOD!) and I'm noticing that all the schools I am applying to are at least and hour away! What's it like traveling to and fro during nursing school? Pros & Cons? I guess I won't have much of a choice as far as travel is concerned but I would like to know a little bit about what to expect. I live in Northern Ohio :) Thanks!

People being spiteful about grades?
This is what I do... They ask, I tell. How they decide to feel about my grade is not my problem lol They should have studied. If they don't ask, I don't tell. Simple. I'm sorry you are feeling so pressured but on a side note GOOD JOB GETTING SUCH A GRAND GRADE! Future Nurse Jay

North Shore Community College LPN or RN
First I'd like to say congratulations for making the decision to go back to school! That is awesome! I'm no mom and I do not live alone however I can say that you will have times when you will be super busy even during your prerequisites BECAUSE you also have to work - which I understand! If I were you - if I was a mom and providing for my family...I would definitely do an LPN program first and then get your RN. This is just my opinion! I wish you the best of luck! Whatever you decide to do - you can!

Give It to Me Straight: Will I get into Nursing School?
Here is the deal, I am applying for Spring 2015 and as most nursing students probably already know that means you apply right around the summer months. That's not the problem. The issue is that the school changed their criteria for what they want in prerequisites and now I have to take an additional writing class over the summer. I will have completed my course before the application deadline (September 2014) but only a month in advance (so Aug 2014) I've worked so hard and for this to happen last minute - really really really really sucks. LOL I'm ahead of the game in everything else & my GPA is excellent thus far. So give it to me straight - will I get in? I KNOW I KNOW - "It depends on my school." "That's not my decision to make." Just do your best. I'm freaking out. I know it won't be the end of the world if I have to apply for the Fall of 2016 - but honestly - that's NOT what I want to happen! I'm tired of waiting - I just want to start!!!!! Okay I'm finished with my ranting. Any soothing words would be nice :nailbiting: :nailbiting:

Second Week of Spring Semester
Wow so it's not just me. I'm extremely overloaded as well. It's not that it's difficult but it's just more application versus memorization which I find takes more time and thought. I'm taking Microbiology + Lab and Human Development, along with 3 other courses but just those two require a lot of work! My room is a mess! It seems as if all I do is study, eat, and sleep! I'm excited though! Hang in there everyone!!!

18 Credit Hours + Working?!
I may just have to be okay with 15 hours. I'll just have to double up during any breaks or days off! LOL Thank you for the encouraging words! I really needed some advice here! I really do feel like I'm already loaded. I think 15 hours/week will have to do! Thank you!!

18 Credit Hours + Working?!
HEY GUYS! I have my first day back in school tomorrow and I am taking 18 credit hours but recently have been blessed with a job!!! (Praise God!) Lord knows I needed it - I was struggling and saving! (I pay my parents "rent" money, as well as paying for my own car insurance, gas, etc!) I was wondering how much do you think a pre-nursing student with 18 credit hours could work and manage? My parents suggested just 15 hours per week but I really need a little more money than that...what do you guys think? Do you have any personal experiences? If you worked full time and were a full time student - PLEASE tell me how you managed!! College Schedule: Monday: 2 classes: 8:00am - 9:20am Computer Science Online 1:00pm-2:20pm (I set the time for myself to work lol) Tuesday 1 classes: Micro Biology either lecture at 1pm-2:20pm or Lab 2:30pm - 3:50 pm Wednesday 2 Classes: Writing 8:00 am - 9:20 am Human Development 7:00 pm - 9:50 pm Thursday 2 Classes: Micro Biology either lecture at 1pm-2:20pm or Lab 2:30pm - 3:50 pm Food & Nutrition 7:00pm-9:50 pm Friday 2 Classes: Writing 8:00am-9:50 am Computer Science 1:00pm-2:20pm So what do you think? Any feedback would be absolutely WONDERFULLLLLL!!!!

From University to Community College
It really depends on the program honestly...I'm doing and ADN program then getting my BSN. My program looks at GPA then credits then recommendation letters. So it's very competitive. I'm no program administrator but I'm almost positive your GPA will matter...
