  1. Waiting on an Authorization to test

I called my state board of nursing, who checked the computer and "something just got lost somewhere". She marked me eligible in the comptuer and in 30 minutes I had my ATT. Good Luck!
  2. Medtech October '12 classes

I'm going to be starting Medtech in October, and was wondering if anyone has anything recent to say about the school. Everything I see are reviews from '08-'10 but it seems to be better now? No news is good news kind of a thing? I know their inspecti...
  3. Question about getting into Ivy Tech timeline?

I would take care of any and all of your co-reqs before the program. You can't take any in the last semester, and the first is just freaking crash course disaster-ish, so just get them out of the way. Having said that, the application may be due by S...
  4. new program at ivy tech

You need APHY 101 to get the points to get in, and you can take 102 while in the program. I'm 2nd semester and currently taking advanced physio while also doing nursing classes. I will tell you that if you can AT ALL take your co reqs first do them t...
  5. Ivy Tech Book Importance

I'm an IVT nursing student and we use all of our books, some people use them more than others. I would buy what they tell you and then use them to understand the concepts. You will pass tests just following the powerpoints and such, but having a firm...
  6. Getting to the gym?????????

If you take one hour out of one day to go to the gym you will be better for it. I used to go 4 or 5 times a week for 2 or 3 hours a day but I just can't, mostly because classes take up time. But I DO have Monday and Tuesday off, so I go those days an...
  7. Ivytech application deadline september 1, 2014

Tip for IVT.. if the deadline for letters is May 31.. plan on getting your letter June 1st. My letter wasn't sent out till the DEAD LAST DAY. The wait was awful. I start on the 27th though, I made it!! Good luck :)
  8. Can i ever become a nurse?

When I first started this journey, I jumped in with both feet and wasn't completely prepared. Long story short, my kid got sick and I had to withdraw. Well I didn't but I thought I had to because my type A personality said that If I have perfect atte...
  9. Just curious..what color is your stethoscope?

I have the Littman Classic II SE in black with smoke finish. The bell is engraved. I justified the purchase because I use it at home as well as for school. It will get plenty of love. I may upgrade for a graduation present.
  10. Do you really need a laptop for nursing school?

I have a laptop for class and almost never use it during class. I like that it's portable so that you can work on papers next to everywhere, but when it came to notes and stuff hand wrote stuff down. Having to think to write the words sealed stuff be...
  11. What backpack do you use?

I have a Jansport and I love it It holds a TON of stuff, BUT if you need laptop space and it's bigger than 15 inches.. it's a feat to get it in there. I am looking at the UA backpacks, but people tend to love them or hate them.. so for right now I'll...
  12. Afraid of starting nursing Pre reqs

Normal to be nervous. One day at a time. Fortunately the first days of class are all about sylabusses (lol) an rules. It helps to break down barriers. I really enjoyed the science classes. It was the gen ed stuff that I hated! By the way, 27 isn't to...
  13. What do you guys think of Medtech College?

Schedule for who? Ivy Tech or Med Tech? Ivy Tech is in the process of streamlining their program. But you still need to take pre-req classes and for those you choose your schedule. Im not sure about Medtech.
  14. Fall 2014 Ivy Tech Nursing

Our orientation is July 14. Lickity Split, soon as I got that letter I had my background and drug screening done, I've taken my BLS class and I just received word that my titres are good so I don't need anymore shots, so my physical is complete. Noth...
  15. Fall 2014 Ivy Tech Nursing

I got into Kokomo's ASN program. I cant WAIT for the orientation... it's about as slow to get here as the letter was! So freakkng excited!!
  16. Is this a realistic course load?

Thats a course load. Some of those "busy" classes can be done over the summer. A&P has a lot of information you need to remember as it follows you forever and ever. If you are single and have a lot of study time go for it. If not.. I'd cut back a...
  17. Acceptance letters-Ivy Tech 2014

IN at Kokomo for the ASN program for Fall 2014!!!! I've already paid for my background test and sent in my acceptance email. I'll turn in my reciept Monday for the drug screening and then get a titer check for shots. Don't want to take more than I ne...
  18. How was microbiology for you? Grade for you? Topics covered?

I LOVED micro.. my very last test on immunities got me though because I had a final on Anatomy the day before so something had to give. I still got an A though. I was obsessed with the information in the class though so that helped some :)
  19. anyone else struggle with Algebra

HATED math. Nothing but practice and tears here and I"m glad to be over the stuff I wont necessarily use!
  20. Acceptance letters-Ivy Tech 2014

I'm working solely towards the ASN. If it doesn't work out, I'll go back to being MOM. :) I've worked hard, and I want it, but if it's not to be, I have a solid back up plan :)
  21. Acceptance letters-Ivy Tech 2014

I think I've seen a few of you on the IVT boards :) I have all of my eggs in the Kokomo basket. I have a 4.0 with a 78.4 on my TEAS V. I'm cautiously optimistic that I'll be accepted.
  22. A&P or Micro?

Study Buddy! NOT buddies! More than 2 or 3 in a group promotes an all day BS session and nothing gets done (though there are exceptions) 101 is best before micro, since Microbiology is a lot of cells, etc it helps to know what the heck they are talki...
  23. Which specialty would you like to end up in?

PICU. Very competitive, I know, but I have no intention of working in a clinic. Working bedside and dealing with crabby parents is where I feel I can best be of use :)
  24. Summer classes?!

For me 101 was much harder than 102 and even though I hold high A's in both A&P classes, I am firmly convinced that I would NOT have done as well in an accelerated class like summer can be. If you do take it, take it by it's self, not with a clas...
  25. I was fascinated by Micro so just reading the book was about all I needed for that. For Anatomy, as much as I like science it fries my brain cells. Repetition, repetition, repetition.. I have a study buddy that likes to repeat stuff verbally, where a...
