  1. Nursing Assessment Order

I just wanted to clarify this with what others learned because it has come up a few times in practice questions. I always thought the nursing assessment order was standard and easy to remember. I even checked my health assessment book. The order for ...
  2. Best hospitals in SoCal?

I suggest you contact a travel nurse company and get in that way, especially with a year of experience. I came here with 2 years of experience and couldn't find any full time jobs. I had offers for per diem, but decided to get a travel contract. Ther...
  3. Moving to San Diego

Hi, I'm a fellow military spouse and just moved here in July. I had multiple job options, with 2 years acute care experience, BSN, and certification. Like the person above me said, 7 months acute care experience won't be quite enough. I have 2 jobs (...
  4. Sharp RN Walk in interview

Has anyone done this? I'm just curious what to expect, and how these are conducted. I verified with a recruiter they still have them. This is in regards to Sharp Healthcare in San Diego. Thanks!
  5. Sharp RN Walk in interview

Ah sorry carizzal, I took another position here and didn't end up doing the walk in interview. It sounds like a great way to introduce yourself. Good luck.
  6. For those wishing to move to L.A.

Gotta think positively! Create your own reality. Everyone said the same to me about San Diego and I am so happy I did NOT let them talk me out of coming here!!! Loving it!
  7. Should I move or wait? San Diego help!

That has to be frustrating. I hope something works out for you.
  8. Should I move or wait? San Diego help!

I just moved here as well with my husband :) I also have 2 years of experience from a teaching hospital. I applied to jobs as Sharp, Scripps, and UCSD. I ended up with several options so I wish you the best! Have you considered taking a travel or age...
  9. Does leaving CA for a BSN make it harder to get a job?

I'm not from California but I just moved here. I have a BSN, 2 years of experience, and I am certified in my specialty. I had several job offers and even negotiated my rate. A couple years of experience go a long way! Good luck
  10. Moving to San Diego

I'm moving to SD in the next couple months and have received several calls from managers and recruiters in response to my application. Everyone is different, and I have a BSN, acute care experience, and am certified in my specialty. It's hard to judg...
  11. Sharp RN Walk in interview

MamakatRN that is awesome! I love finding other military spouses that are nurses. Good for you :) good luck in your career endeavors! Happy military spouse appreciation day!
  12. Sharp RN Walk in interview

Sharp healthcare offers walk in interviews for nurses with at least 1 year of acute care experience. They're every Thursday from 9am - noon. I'm not in the area yet but will be in a few weeks and definitely plan on checking this out. I've been emaili...
  13. any hospitals easiest to get jobs for a new nurse?

You could do agency or travel nursing if you have over a year of experience. I would also look on career sites on hospital web pages and call their nurse recruiters. I have 2 years experience and they've been very receptive on the phone. Good luck
  14. Soon to be New grad

I started as a new grad in PACU. I love it and the schedule works so well for me. I plan on sticking with this specialty for a long long time :)
  15. Time between interview and start date

This question is for experienced nurses, as I know new grads have advanced applications for residency programs. How long from time of application/interview did you start a new job? Are managers flexible with a start date? The job I'm looking at did n...
  16. Endorsement for RN license, how long did it take for you?

It took me 3 months. I got my license in January.
  17. Moving to Northern CA, Job prospects?

Since you're asking a question about if you should stay to make a full two years or not, I think that justifies a new thread. That specific question is one I haven't seen asked (and I've browsed!) unfortunately I don't know the exact answer. I know m...
  18. Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA

I sent everything in October 8th. Cash checked November 1st. License received January 11th. Paper fingerprint cards :)
  19. The valuable inspiration and guidance

    Do you have experience?
  20. How is the San Diego Job Market?

Do you have some experience as an RN? Have you thought about going through an agency? American mobile is based out of sandiego.
  21. license by endorsement

Yes the hard part is getting fingerprints done in a timely fashion for those out of state. I sent in the hard copy cards which takes much longer. Unfortunately I don't think there's a "fast" way to get a license in CA.
  22. license by endorsement

I didn't apply for a temporary license. In order to get one (I learned this from the BON) your fingerprints need to be cleared. That's what took my license so long. It seems like a temp works more if you need to complete some classes or are waiting f...
  23. license by endorsement

    Thank you and good luck!!!
  24. license by endorsement

I got my license!!! 3 months and 6 days later. Happy day!
  25. license by endorsement

I sent in fingerprint cards in October (as well as the rest of my application). Everything but the prints has been cleared. My husband is military so we have a few months before we move and I am happy I did this early. Basically if my fingerprints go...
