  1. Middle Georgia College Clinicals?

I know I keep asking this, but I can't seem to get a reply, so here goes, again. If anyone is attending or has attended Middle Georgia College, can you tell me where you do/did your clinicals? Thanks, Raineylane
  2. Anyone attending Middle Georgia College?

Hello, I am considering attending Middle Georgia College in Cochran, Ga. I keep seeing messages on here asking if anyone is attending and haven't seen a reply. Is anyone attending or have attended? Looking forward to some feedback. I have some qu...
  3. Middle Georgia College Clinicals?

I have checked the schedule for the Cochran campus and it lists 2 days clinicals. Yes, money for gas is a challenge. I don't think there are any grants for gas, though. Trying to avoid loans. Also, I do see well enough to drive in the dark, which w...
  4. Middle Georgia College Clinicals?

Thank you for responding. Taylor in Hawkinsville wouldn't be a problem. It's less than an hour from where I live. But, as far as having to drive over an hour, one-way to Perry, Dublin, Macon and Warner Robins is just too much. So unless I could do ...
  5. Middle Georgia College Clinicals?

Thank you for your response. I kept thinking Taylor in Hawkinsville looked pretty new and there appears to be outlying components to the hospital, i.e. a Wellness Center. Looked much larger than 36 beds.
  6. Middle Georgia College Clinicals?

I didn't realize Taylor was so small. It looks huge from the road. We are talking about Taylor in Hawkinsville, right? Not the little state-run hospital in Cochran. I live pretty far south of Hawkinsville. This is the challenge: Driving 70 miles ...
  7. Middle Georgia College Clinicals?

Thank you gninab. It seems strange that Taylor in Hawkinsville is only 15 miles or so from the school, so I would have thought that would be at least one of the places they had clinicals. Macon and Warner Robins are over an hour from me and Dublin is...
  8. Middle Georgia College Clinicals?

Finally an answer! Thank you so much. It's interesting that they don't do clinicals at Taylor in Hawkinsville, or maybe they do. Cochran is a 70 mile round trip for me just to go to school. My challenge is the cost of gas, so I was wondering how ...
  9. Middle Georgia College Fall 2011

Where did you do your clinicals?
  10. Anyone attending Middle Georgia College?

Again, thank you for your reply. Still wondering where you did your clinicals.
  11. Anyone attending Middle Georgia College?

Thank you for replying. I was beginning to think MGC was either in a black hole of the universe or a myth! I know this may be a strange question, but what hospitals did you do your clinicals in?
  12. Middle Georgia College Fall 2011

To all of you on this thread: Were you successful in getting in? If so, how's it going? I am considering applying here, as well. Any information would be great.
  13. Sick of interviewing in Georgia! Rant/venting

Athens seemed to be okay. It is better than the surrounding towns. I know they have Athens Regional and St. Mary's and several medical facilities there. However, if you ended up in the Commerce or Winder Area, then you have my condolences. In the...
  14. Sick of interviewing in Georgia! Rant/venting

Yeah, I just moved from north of Atlanta. I was more in the Athens area just prior to moving. I moved to middle Ga. Ga's economy has suffered severely. I never dreamed that nursing jobs were so hard to come by here. I may be rethinking my plans a...
  15. South Georgia RN Questions

Albany seems to be a nice town. I say "seems" because I moved away many years ago and have just recently been back there. It has certainly grown since I was there. Lots of new construction and businesses. There is probably anything you'd ever want,...
  16. South Georgia RN Questions

One more thing and I'll leave you alone. I mentioned that Phoebe has satelite locations. I don't know if they might be considering you for a job at one of those satelites. I also mentioned that they were opening a new one 30 miles from me, in Fitz...
  17. South Georgia RN Questions

It's interesting that you are considering moving here from Texas. My brother lives and has lived in Texas most of his adult life. He too, is in nursing school, now, in TX. He keeps trying to talk me into to moving there and go to school with him. ...
  18. South Georgia RN Questions

I was born at Phoebe! Lived in Albany, most of my life. Albany is a weird town. The town mostly thrives on retail and Phoebe. It is a strange little oasis of business way off the beaten path. It's strange to drive "to" Albany through all of the ...
  19. Sick of interviewing in Georgia! Rant/venting

I am so sorry to hear this. If I may ask, what general area of Ga. are you located? I am considering going to nursing school, here in Ga. and working here. I am now wondering if this is a bad idea/waste of time.
  20. 40yrs OLD AND I WANT TO BECOME A NURSE!!!

I've been researching the LPN, this morning. Seems like having an LPN would be a great place to start, then bridge over. I could be wrong but it seems that you'd have sort of a head start on an RN degree. My problem is there is no Tech. School that...
  21. 40yrs OLD AND I WANT TO BECOME A NURSE!!!

I'm 54 and like you, I only have a high school diploma. I've been trying to decide, myself, which route to take (RN or LPN). I've read on-line (however accurate that may be) than LPN's were supposed to be phasing out, so that sort of has me concern...
  22. Prospects after graduation?

After reading this, I checked out the employment page on several hospitals in my area, and it does show that they are hiring new grads. Maybe it's a regional thing.
  23. I am done!!!! Pinning Ceremony and all.

Gongrats! You are an inspiration to me!
  24. Prospects after graduation?

I'm wondering that myself, before I even attempt to go to school.
  25. Hello, I'm wanting to pursue a Nursing career, after being out of school for a looooonnnggg time. I've been researching the schools in my area, but one thing I can't seen to find is: How far will I be expected to travel for my clinicals? There is a...
