  1. Tylenol ordered for pain.

Hello all, I had an issue with a doctor at work today and I'm just looking for some advice. My pt was admitted with pyelonephritis and spiked a temp of 103.1 today. I immediately put a call out to her doctor and got the nursing assistant to make a co...
  2. awesome. good for you!!
  3. sorry, wish i could remember where i ordered from. at work there are at least four pink littmanns on the floor at any given time lol. mine is the only one that has been engraved.
  4. it was an option when i ordered mine online years ago. i can't remember where i originally ordered the stethoscope tho.
  5. since my previous post was deleted, i'll just share that the assistant dean of la salle emailed me back this morning and told me that in my cohort that graduated this past december, 93.7% of us have passed the boards on the first try!
  6. definitely don't buy a portable pulse ox. you won't need it. i think your list is fine for now. i would suggest having your name engraved on your stethoscope. smartest thing i've ever done. get ready to see a lot of pink littmanns in clinical.
  7. HESI Exit advice!!!

i actually used this book: Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN ... 5th Edition | Rent 9781437708257 | 1437708250 i really only did the online questions from that book and read ALL rationales. the first time i took the hesi, i was studying ...
  8. Tylenol ordered for pain.

Ha. There's a lot of pretentiousness in this thread.
  9. Tylenol ordered for pain.

I see. I definitely could have made the whole thing easier on myself and the patient by just asking if she had pain at the time (she did) and administering the tylenol for pain and fever. Thanks for the advice.
  10. Tylenol ordered for pain.

    Wow!!
  11. Tylenol ordered for pain.

Thanks. I'm seeing there are many types of nurses when it comes to following orders.
  12. Tylenol ordered for pain.

Obviously. I know it's an NSAID. I didn't know the fever part. Thanks.
  13. i just graduated from la salle's evening and weekend bsn program in december. the school is definitely struggling with pass rates for some reason. i took the boards and passed in 75 questions, and i've been hearing the same from a lot of my peers. ho...
  14. Tylenol ordered for pain.

Is toradol an anyipyretic? Wow. I still have so much to learn. Thank you!
  15. Tylenol ordered for pain.

calivianya, thanks so much for your response. i'm trying to understand others' perspectives to see where i went wrong. i guess i am still practicing in nclex-land.
  16. New Grad Hiring

I was very fortunate to pass the boards on 1/8 and be in orientation on 1/12. I was a nursing assistant at my hospital for almost a year before I passed the boards. I had a great relationship with my manager, and with my coworkers, so things worked o...
  17. HESI Exit advice!!!

i failed the first time too. then i started doing a lot of practice questions at once to build stamina. i read the rationales, but i didn't go over a bunch of content. during the actual hesi, i took a lot of breaks to give my brain a rest and so i w...
  18. Tylenol ordered for pain.

    I need to own what?
  19. I think I failed...

well then you only have a few more dreadful hours to wait lol. i've always hated sata, and i felt like the nclex had soooo many of them. i got nervous about that and thought i'd failed afterwards too.
  20. I think I failed...

oh ok. i know how terrible the wait is. how did you feel during the exam? did you think you were doing poorly? hopefully it turns out well for you.
  21. Leave Great Job?

you'll always have your nursing license as long as you renew it every couple of years. keep the job that's making you happy right now until it no longer makes you happy. that's what i would do. bedside nursing will always be there when you're ready.
  22. I think I failed...

i don't know, but try to stay positive, as nerve wrecking as that is. what is the breeze web site? have you tried going to your state bon web site and searching for your license? that's how i found out i'd passed.
  23. Tylenol ordered for pain.

I probably would have talked to the other nurses on the floor and got their opinions before just giving it to the pt. Let's be clear that I called the doc to let him know about her fever which was > 103, not to ask if I should give the tylenol. I ...
  24. Tylenol ordered for pain.

Yeah, I get it. But I've been told repeatedly by nurses and doctors to cover my own ass, and that's always on my mind. I've worked too hard for my license, like all of you, to lose it over an egotistical doctor and OTC tylenol. So much of what nurses...
  25. Tylenol ordered for pain.

Well these are things you learn with experience, right? It's not my job to decipher vague orders and make them something they're not. Orders are supposed to be clear and specific. Maybe if it wasn't for something as seemingly harmless as tylenol, you...
