  2. How long did you study for the CPNE?

I am hoping to have a CPNE date by the end of the year, which will give me about 4 months to study. Depending on my work schedule, I will be able to put in 2-8 hours per day. That is a big difference, but I commute to work 12 hr nights.. so those day...
  3. Can i be a mother/baby nurse if I have never had kids?

I would think that like TheCommuter says having kids would only enhance your practice, but you are well-trained for the job. :) If you are deeply drawn to the field, your practice will also be enhanced... go for it!
  4. Leaving Excelsior program

Hi all, I really never expected to be writing this, but having just made my decision, I am writing it out to help myself process it. I finished LPN school in Canada in 2004 and worked one year before getting married in the US and deciding to stay a...
  5. Relocating to Nashville and need advice!!!

Nashville is a great city. I am an LPN and am starting to work towards my RN this fall - lots of opportunity for work, school, and everything else in between. I also have two boys - there's great things for kids to do, and we've met a lot of really a...

  8. Super excited!! Start date soon approaching

Oh funny, I am starting pre-reqs this fall at Nashville State; we are also homeschoolers (3 and 6 yo boys); and me going back to school was also a dream turned necessity - my husband will have to work/live out of town unless I can finish school and g...

I'm tempted to buy a second one.. only because I see some really great deals on Craigslist!
  12. What should I bring with me on my first day in LTC?

Congrats on the new job! My first day as an LPN in LTC... biggest help: note pad, resident list/report sheet, drug book, list of phone numbers. The biggest problem I ran into, was leaving enough time to chart at the end of shift. Making notes and kee...
  13. Free Itunes resources

Love those! The guy who does the Podmedic also does other podcasts too - they're all great, free, and on iTunes. :)
  14. Ditto! We had plenty of floor time and opportunity in our 2-year RPN program as well. I was not nervous over using my skills. SKILLZ! lol
  15. A&P -fall

I agree with the above folks too. It's a lot of info, but the concepts are not difficult. Just a lot to memorize. So, I would start memorizing! I tutored the course to LPN students and I found the following helped: start basic. Look at major systems...
  16. College Algebra

I'm going to do it in a full semester as well (this fall). I haven't done math in a while and I thought doing it alone over the summer would help, but the shorter timeframe makes me nervous... good luck! :)
  17. Just sayin' hi/ Anyone in middle TN?

Hi everyone! I have been on and off of this site for years... definitely can't get away... :) I've held an LPN license for about 7 years but only worked one, as I've been at home raising two boys. I tried to do EC's online program while at home, bu...
  18. Re-entry with little to no work experience.

I agree with the above posters. I worked as an LPN for about a year before staying at home for the last 6 years, and started feeling out of touch very quickly. I have kept up my CEU's and license, and signed up to do an ADN program at home while I t...
  19. Canadian Transcripts

I completed an LPN program in Canada and they took all of my credits. I think some may have to be no older than 5 years.. i.e. A&P.. but EC is very very helpful. Good luck!

  21. Living in TN on 40,000 a year? Is that possible for family of 4?

We're in SE Nashville, along Percy Priest Lake and love it here, tho that's a tit of a drive to Madison. There are nice spots in Donelson too. Not sure about schools though - mine stay home. Absolutely affordable in many spots around town. We have a...

  24. Flight Nurse Book Called Trauma Junkie

I came across this book by accident at the library and read it in two days as well... I'm a student alone with two kids, so that tells you it is a must read! :) I'm still just studying nursing (with LPN and other experience) but am really feeling d...
