I have Brunner's 10th Ed...which I bought and used about 10 years ago. I'm guessing that's pretty outdated?

What are you using it for? Just independant reading and learning? A lot of the basic (patho, signs and symptoms) don't change, but the best practice nursing interventions, treatments and medications will change. So it would be fine to read it to learn about diseases, but you should get a newer version for the nursing information.
If you search amazon.com you can probably order a book thats 1-2 years old for just a few dollars.
I'm back in school, so I do need the detail. Thanks for writing tho - I think Im just in denial re spending the cash on another 50# book. :)
You're right that you couldn't use a 10 year old text book for school. The lectures and questions will likely be very specific to the text book required for the course.
However, check amazon.com and abe books for cheaper prices. Buy used, if possible. Or post on your school's webpage to see if there is anyone who has previously taken the class who is willing to sell their book.
