  1. OR Nurse in PACU

Is there some specific task that you are doing that is making you feel this way? I moved from the OR to PACU/SSU 2 months ago for the first time and I am loving the change, but whoa...very different!
  2. Okay, I have been on the Dantes site, and I can't seem to pull the info I want off it. I only need 3 credit of humanities and my advisor at Excelsior even recommended the Dantes CLEP for approx $75. Ethics in America would transfer over to my BSN, ...
  3. Excelsior approved CLEP 3 cr humanities, which one?

    Such good advice Beachie!
  4. Excelsior approved CLEP 3 cr humanities, which one?

The REA CLEP book is excellent, go through it a few times. If you dig through the EPN, there is a Dantes thread, and a few students talk about A&I Lit there a bit too. I took it a week after my CPNE, and I was SO exhausted after all of my clini...
  5. Some of my fellow nurses have asked me hour many hours of clinicals I had with EC, and I explained my CPNE, but I am now curious as to how many hours brick and mortars offer in a year? As I see students come and out of our department, they are purel...
  6. Interesting! So, for a LPN coming into a an associate degree program, I suppose it is roughly 1000 hours? I am trying to remember how many hours we did as LPN students (this was almost 20 years ago) I thought we did 5 hours (as half days) a week in...
  7. Passed in Utica!!!!!

I knew you would! Way to my friend!! :w00t: Call me this weekend! Congrats! Jan GN!!!!
  8. MOTIVATION

You are in the home stretch, and during these last exams it can get hard to keep your momentum going but hit your review hard and give yourself regular breaks. I did consume a moderate/large/excessive amount of strong coffee and chai tea at that poin...
  9. CPNE this weekend

You have the winning attitude! Have a GREAT weekend! :)
  10. Books

There are a variety of opinions on this topic. A friend of mine made it through the program (with fabulous grades!) with I believe just Saunders, sg101 and the practice exams, but I believe she said she has a photographic memory and was currently wo...
  11. CPNE help

I don't know where things are at now, but I was CPNE eligible and applied in June 2011 and had to wait until August to get a CPNE date for November 2011, so I had about 5 months. I tested in Madison, WI and the MPAC has lost 2 testing hospitals and ...
  12. I would recommending going to the Excelsior Nursing wall on facebook, lots of discussion on this topic on the wall. I have a friend that did the CPNE (the clinical) the same weekend as I did, and he currently employed as an RN in Ohio. I believe h...
  13. LS3 and Saunders Question?

Hmm....if you mean in Saunders, the practice questions in Saunders are WAY WAY easier than the actual LS exams (in my opinion). The EC practice exams have far more flavor of the true exams than Saunders did.
  14. LS3 and Saunders Question?

I think every students studying techniques are different. I, personally, would never have made it through any of the EC exams with only SG101. When I took LS3, the content guide was set up a bit differently than the others, and that threw me off my...
  15. Back on Track with a PASS!

    Congrats Nervous1!!
  16. Almost there...

Congrats on reaching the home stretch! It seems like there are a few EC students close to the same time frame you are in. We had a big group finishing together here at allnurses last year, and it was wonderful to have a support group of friends to...
  17. online workshops..Tina L or Sherri T?

I did Tina Logan's online care plan workshop for 2 months (Sept & Oct of 2011) and I learned so much more than just care plans. I had submitted one care plan a week to Excelsior for 3 months prior to CPNE, but did not grasp the concept or the mi...
  18. The EC Magic Pencil

There was an EC Pencil at my EC workshop, but I was never told anything about bringing it to my CPNE or that it was "magic". What you are given at the seminar looks just like what you will see when attending any normal convention. Yes, smarties to ...
  19. can't order CPNE flashcards?

You may not be able to access those study materials until you are officially CPNE eligible, but you may be able to go to the CPNE EPN board and see if anyone has a used set to sell? :)
  20. vent about other nurses attitudes

OP, I am going to quote Esmes12 signature quote.... "No one can make you feel inferior without your permission." Eleanor Roosevelt I am an EC grad and RN and I can assure you that I am not awkward in tense, emotional patient care situations. Quite th...
  21. Nice to see Tasha and MsPC! Good luck with your move and your last tests MsPC!
  22. Hey guys! Excelsior Nursing now has it's own page! :anpom: Anyone care to check in and let us know what you are working on? Still prepping for NCLEX here :)
  23. cpne is scheduled for march :-)

Good Luck Tasha!!! Where are you testing?
  24. Excelsior Journals

I graduated on 1/20, so I am unable to log into the communities anymore but noticed that they were gone almost a week ago while I was still able to log in. I would give EC a call and see if they have any info. Maybe they are in some kind of archivi...
  25. I used Saunders to supplement my nursing classes, and I purchased Kaplan's Strategy and Review book and did all of the post tests and did very well, but I am concerned that Kaplan's questions in the review book are far too easy and giving me a false...
