Okay, I have been on the Dantes site, and I can't seem to pull the info I want off it. I only need 3 credit of humanities and my advisor at Excelsior even recommended the Dantes CLEP for approx $75. Ethics in America would transfer over to my BSN, but to be honest, that sounds so dull I don't think it will hold my attention as my very last associate nursing exam. I want EASY. I could do Excelsiors Into to Music for $250 (would this be just like my normal exams, go test at pearsonvue, my own pace etc?) and how does the Dantes class work? Is it like a normal online college with specific start time, quiz time, test time, etc? Sorry, but this was the info I can't find.

Analyzing and Interpreting Lit. I always recommend this one. It is 6 credits and I thought it was really simple, all reading comp. I paid $77 plus a $25 proctor fee.

Okay, how is this set up? Online class with specific days to test or do you test at Pearsonvue? How long does it take to get throught this class? Why is a proctor fee needed?! Is this through Dantes?

The reason why I paid a proctor fee is because my local community college won't let you CLEP for free unless you are a student there. I just went on the CLEP website and checked what colleges offered CLEP exams near me and called their testing center to set it up. Most community colleges offer it :-)

I just thumbed through some English books to review terms like onomotopoeia and iambic pentameter and stuff but other than that did not study. Just took the test and passed. It's all reading comp... it will give you a passage to read, and then ask questions regarding what the author means, etc. The biggest factor on this one is time--I think there is only like 80 questions, but it takes forever LOL.

Not sure what Dantes is but CLEP is ACE approved and Excelsior does give credit for their exams. :-)

Oh, and Excelsior does NOT require the essay part! I was happy about that :-)

Hello,

I thumbed through the REA CLEP for A&I LIt, but only got a headache...lol

Did you have previous extensive reading in Lit?

Thanks!

The REA CLEP book is excellent, go through it a few times. If you dig through the EPN, there is a Dantes thread, and a few students talk about A&I Lit there a bit too. I took it a week after my CPNE, and I was SO exhausted after all of my clinical prep but it wanted it over with. Many students whip through that material fast, and I think I did it in about 4 days. I made notecards to memorize all of the key terms. I thought it was still a bit hard, but well worth those 6 credits! I started this thread almost exactly a year ago, exciting to see it pop back up! :D

Such good advice Beachie!

Did you have a basic understanding before reading? Is REA the only source you used to prepare?

Thank you!
