    Nurse yelling at patient

I'm a loud person by nature and get louder as my emotions/adrenaline increase. When I meet new patients I tell them if I sound like I'm yelling it's ok, I'm just excited... now if I drop my voice low and it has a steel edge to it.... yeah not good. ...

I have spent the majority of my health care career working in psych. But because of things occurring on the unit I cannot support I am leaving psych. Amazingly I was able to find a floor position who was willing to give me a chance (I had been look...

    How true this is

    Hosptial call out policy

the only portion I know is if you call off a weekend day you have to make it up on your weekend to be off the next schedule period. I'm not 100 percent sure what our call off policy is because in 5 yrs I've only called off 3 times. My other 2 sick ...

    How true this is

I don't have that luxury. My unit is inside a general hospital. Though I do call a condition and have had people transferred immediately upon arrival.

    Too sick to leave AMA?

We have had individuals kept in the hospital on a 302 (Pa's involuntary commitment) when the doctor felt necessary. I think in 5 yrs I've seen it happen once.

    Nurse with ADD :(

."I too am a adhde. I work psych. I know my limits... If in a long stretch day 3 is my limit. After that I'm very distractable so would alter how I did things. Such as doing my assessments where I couldn't see what was going on in the hall. They ...

    How true this is

my favorite quote from a hospitalist (who I have a great relationship with).... Well technically he is medically stable just more medically complex than you normally deal with..... Consistent Bps in the 190/120 range with huge cardiac/ cva hx.

How did you decide your specialty?

It was the unit that offered me a job. And so few actually enjoy psych patients and individuals with addiction issues that I feel it would be a disservice to leave.

    Unethical?

Until you said psych I would have said no issue, not something I would do, but the professional relations ends at d/c. For psych patients it may vary by state but in my state it's 3 yrs. rarely do we have a patient last that long without coming bac...

    Call Off Policy?

If we have one it's not enforced on the unit I work on. People late daily, nothing happens. People call off excessively, nothing happens
