Leaving Psych

I have spent the majority of my health care career working in psych. But because of things occurring on the unit I cannot support I am leaving psych. Amazingly I was able to find a floor position who was willing to give me a chance (I had been looking for almost a year, off and on). I will miss the population but I will not miss chaos of the unit.

Congratulations on the new opportunity. I have known some who are quick to return and others who never look back but I hope this is what you are looking for with regard to a positive change. I'm sure we can all related to the frustrations, challenges and in most states pathetically limited resources that are predominant in mental health today. Best wishes.

i can see me eventually going back. Not the same hospital (if same manager/dr) but who knows what the future will hold.

When I left psych I thought I wouldn't be back so I let my ANCC cert lapse. That was a mistake.

Best of Luck to you!

Best of luck with the new position! And you will find that what you learned working in psych will serve you well no matter what specialty you go into :)
