I've noticed that there is one post from 2008 asking about Blinn nursing school. I figured I'd give this a shot anyways. I was accepted into the Blinn nursing program for fall 2010. I was wondering if there was anyone else on the site that was acc...

Newborn nursery is usually the first job. You have to "learn normal" first before you can care for abnormal. Babies are completely different than adults.

The essay is about what you think the qualities of a nurse should have, what qualities of a nurse you have, and what your career goals are (that's the gist of it). The cut off GPA depends on who applies. My pre-reqs were from A&M so my GPA was lo...

We were told in the Hurst review that on the NCLEX, if there are 5 choices, then anywhere from 2-4 of them are right. It'll never be 1 on the NCLEX and if I remember right, there will always be at least one option that's wrong.
Hello! I am graduating in May and currently looking for jobs. I will be doing my preceptorship in L&D and my top choices for jobs are L&D and NICU. I'm applying to other areas as well but I was wondering what certifications are beneficial in ...

Thanks for the information! I guess I was just hoping to add something to my resume that made me look a little more desirable than another graduate nurse. I'm just nervous about finding a job!
Well you'll be studying types of drugs. We took pharm as part of our nursing curriculum. My prof liked to ask about aspects of the drug that were unique. It was always important to know if something had to be taken at night (like cholesterol meds) vs...
I have to do a care plan/concept map worth almost half of my grade for mental health clinical. I had a patient with severe Alzheimer's dementia, anxiety and depression. The anxiety and depression were pretty well maintained with medications during th...

Haha I think we saw some of y'all down the hall testing. My friend walked by and heard someone talking about what the essay was going to be like. Waiting was definitely the most nerve-wrecking part!

They notify you about taking your TEAS after they've clarified that you have minimum requirements to apply. I got my acceptance letter to the program on June 2nd. Take all of the prereqs if you can, do well in those classes, I pre-wrote my essay ahea...

Wow sorry I've been MIA! TEAS - I bought a Kaplan study guide for nursing entrance exams (it's supposed to help study for all). I made a 96.7% in that section. The book was definitely helpful because it went over things that I needed to brush up on s...

Your chances are best if you take as many of the prereqs as possible. I took all of mine so I would recommend that although there are a few girls taking A&P 2 and random ones like english. It's definitely easiest if you don't have to worry about ...

No, we took the TEAS IV. I remember there being math, science, reading....critical thinking maybe? I can't specifically remember but there was definitely more than 2 sections.

Hey! I would recommend going to an informational session. Last summer I went and the lady told us what the entrance essay topic was. It's the same every year. I can't really remember specifically but it was like what are the qualities of a nurse, how...

For the fall 43 were accepted I believe about 200 applied. I came from A&M so my GPA wasn't excessively high but since it's Blinn, I think they can appreciate a bachelor of science from the university down the street. However, I was in the 99th ...

You have to apply to Blinn College (like the general application) which you can do through the Apply Texas website but the actual nursing program application you have to pick up in the ADN office in the health building. Actually every nursing school...

Ok I applied to San Jac and I read all of your posts and I just want to say how ridiculous all of this is. I just graduated from Texas A&M in May and my lease is up July 31st. Now I got into Blinn June 2nd (thank goodness) but if I had a week to ...
