I know that know one can actually give me legal advice, but I just want to know if I should take this farther, so it doesn't happen to someone else or let it go.
My child will be attending a new therapeutic day school. The building is actually n...
Thank you, I think I've let emotions run away with me. Our family has been in crisis for 5 years and I'm seeing small glimmers of hope. I just need to take it slowly. The right job will come at the right time.
No, it's a private school. I get that it could be their policy, but in less than 24 hours they put a "hold" on hiring for the position, but updated in their career opportunities as an available position.
I am from the Midwest and the facility I work at is just as you have described. It is scary, but also has made me a stronger nurse, IMHO. As previously mentioned, when a crisis occurs all hospital staff have to be a part of the team. I'm not sure ho...
Like many of you here, becoming a labor nurse is my dream job. For me it became a reality approximately 6 months ago at a rural facility, which averages around 240 deliveries annually. Lately, since I am to be off orientation soon, I have been unsur...
I will be starting NOCs myself tomorrow, but I have younger children, so not being a day person on my days off is really not an option. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to adjust to rotating? We do have self scheduling as well and I'm wond...

Well my experience, having recently graduated, is around $20/hr base pay for new grads. You do get shift differentials, but many hospitals are no longer offering bonuses or loan repayment for new grads at this time.
I had an OB fellowship interview a few months back and BLEW IT BIG TIME!!! I recovered and moved on and was offered a job in another area. Today I got a call for another OB interview at a different hospital, I want to be prepared and confident and no...
The interview went really well; however, this job is in another state so I'm applying for licensure by endorsement and I'm afraid by the time I get a temporary license it will be too late. The recruiter called me back, and said they're hands are basi...
I received an e-mail today from nurse recruiter saying she spoke with the NM and to give her a call at my earliest convenience tomorrow. I hope this is an encouraging sign. I too have toddlers and teenagers, and I found a daycare provider should I b...
I've completed 3 weeks orientation on my new job in acute medical re-hab. All is going well so far. I'm on a very supportive floor with a great preceptor. I work days and they have on-sight childcare, which is terrific. Now for the bad news. I was c...
Another vote for choosing an accelerated program. It will be hell and you will have no life outside of nursing school, but it is only a year. If you are dedicated and focused it may be a better option for you.
I suppose I don't know for sure, but I'm sure it didn't help my case any to appear unsure of myself. Anyway, I'm no longer concerned with that position, but the current one I'm interviewing for.
JustDeena, I was a single mom and attended GSON and had a baby while attending too. I chose not to work for the same reasons you stated. Big mistake. Get in there asap as a tech then when you start NS cut back your hours to part-time. Many of my clas...
saymo82, I must disagree with you. There are inferior instructors at GSON. The program (upper division w/e classes) focuses on getting students to pass NCLEX, not preparation for nursing. In my cohort we had instructors tell us '"read the book" when ...
This was the 2nd interview I had been on and I was nervous. It's really all a blur now, but I felt I "ummmmed" my way through the whole thing, despite the fact I prepared questions. They asked me some questions about HELLP, abruptio placenta, and ano...
