Woo Hoo! Accepted into nursing program!

I invited friends over, and we got drunk :) We had a few happy occasions to celebrate at the same time. My DH finally got into the doctor of dental surgery program (second attempt), and so did his friend, so we were all very happy.

    Will I regret Nursing too???

Nursing school is difficult, but so is every program at a university level. No one better than you can tell you whether you will regret it or not. For me it was a change of career, and since I didn't want to make a mistake again, I took two years of ...

    Laptop to class?

I take a netbook to classes. This is a great way to keep all my notes paperless. Also, I installed the dropbox software, so all my notes are immediately synchronized with my computer at home. And I can login from anywhere and read them.

    Nursing or Occupational Therapy?

My advice would be, go and shadow an OT and go shadow a nurse. I was thinking between PT, OT and nursing, and it made a world of difference to me, when I actually managed to shadow all of them and see what I like best. I am very interested in ergonom...

    New student..what should i do?

Check in other colleges. This price is higher than what I am paying for a BScN in a university. And if you have another degree, you can do an advanced standing from a university, and get your BScN in 2-3 years. Without having pay 3 times the fee.

Can you please suggest where to look for PSW jobs? I am in Toronto and I am a first year student, so I am looking for a summer job.
  7. Hi everyone! I am starting the York/Seneca 4 years collaborative Nursing this September, and I got a schedule that makes it hard for me to pick my son up from a daycare since 1 day I finish at 6pm and another one at 7pm. Anyone has a schedule with co...

York/Seneca 1st year looking to swap schedule.

27400, thanks! I don't have the link. I think the first year students don't have it. And the scheduling coordinator is away until September. FB group is a splendid idea, I will do it too, thanks. I hope I will find someone at the orientation if noth...

York/Seneca 1st year looking to swap schedule.

I didn't post any students' names, and posting lecture numbers, times and the lecturers who teach them at these particular times, are not infringement of any privacy.

York/Seneca 1st year looking to swap schedule.

Of course not. Someone from my school and from the same program, but who got a different schedule. They randomly assigned predefined schedules, and now they don't want to change these unless students find each other and agree to swap between themsel...

York/Seneca 1st year looking to swap schedule.

Thank you, but this is incorrect. It is what the head of the scheduling department told me. She said that if I find someone who is willing to swap she is going to do it.

    New grad and Pregnant...help

I think you should wait until you give birth, have your mat leave, and then look for something else while you are working. The hiring agency might get really upset with you if they hire you while you are pregnant, and then find out about it.

Help me choose!! Respiratory or RN?

Life is long, and you might eventually decide to live in a city or a different town. I like the idea of RN more than RT, because you have so many choices. If you get bored in one specialty, you have tons of others, without a career change. Good luck...
  16. Since I live in a very multicultural area, and volunteer in a very multicultural hospital we don't have any prayers (I like it that we don't). What we do have is paintings on the ceiling in every area where people are lying, and waiting to be taken c...

Canadian RN passes the NCLEX RN

Thanks! I am actually just starting it :) I was in my first year, then had to postpone the studies, because DS was born. Now I am returning to school (it is my second career). I will either continue with York University or will go to Ryerson if they ...

Canadian RN passes the NCLEX RN

It actually scares me a little bit, since I am planning to take both Canadian and American exams, and I've heard that you have about 30 seconds per question. English is not my mother tongue. Super Veronica, congrats on passing the exam, and thanks fo...

    Male nurses hired faster?

When I was studying human-computer interaction, it was the same for girls, since there were like 5 of us maximum in each computer science class (many-many more of us in our psychology classes though). We were very cherished.

Role of the L&D Nurse vs. Midwife

I can tell about the RM role in Canada. I don't work as one, but I was recently giving birth with one. RM takes care of the patient since the very begining of pregnancy. Books all the tests that are needed to be done, educates, checks the size, posit...

    Diabetic Menu Planner
