  1. Thank you for the replies, savoytruffle and LTCRN4LIFE!
  2. Hello! We're in the process of deciding who will be responsible for organizing our care plan meetings (i.e., scheduling the meeting and notifying families/POA so they can attend). Who is responsible for this in your facility? Thank you for your input!
  3. I will be interested to see the replies to this as I'm about to start a position very similar to your's! Good luck to you!
  4. The PVT worked! I was getting the good pop up and just found out that I passed! :bowingpur
  5. Congrats! It must be such a relief to have passed!
  6. i really really hope that the pvt works. my status says delivered successfully and i've been getting the good pop-up. i just feel like i failed majorly (i took the kaplan and hurst reviews and studied for a month)! those of you who are waiting for your results, i feel your pain. so thankful that i live in a state that participates in quick results...i just wish the results were instant! tomorrow i will sign back in and let you know if it worked. pray for all of us who are anxiously waiting! good luck to everyone!
  7. thank you for the info, noblepath! the more i hear about oncology nursing, the more i want to do it. i've done my clinicals with geriatrics and in long-term acute care and wasn't overly excited about either although i did like geriatrics best of the two. a few days ago, my friend who is an oncologist/hematologist allowed me to shadow her and her nurse for the day. i was amazed at the relationships they both had w/their patients. i think this may be a good fit for me as i want to be able to get to know the patients and their families and give them the best care possible. that is so important to me! i wish you the best of luck in your career--it sounds like you are already doing very well. :ancong!:
  8. I am assuming that everyone in this thread who was getting ready to start in their new positions as an oncology nurse has done so by now. I am also interested in oncology nursing. How do you like it so far? What are the good points and the bad points? Good luck to all of you! I hope you're loving your new jobs! :)
  9. Are there any travel nurses out there? How long did you have to wait after becoming an RN to be able to be a travel nurse? Do you enjoy being a travel nurse? Which states have you had assignments in? I am thinking about becoming a travel nurse as soon as I can after I graduate, so any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
  10. No, the OP has not found any new info on loans. I will be sure to post any new info that I do find though! :wink2: The only info I've got is what others have posted on this thread and I am grateful for everyone's input.
  11. I don't get it. I think I'm just slowwwwwwwwwwww...ha ha
  12. Zookeeper, what exactly is a service cancellable loan? How does it work? I've never heard of such a thing. :thnkg:
  13. Thanks--you made me feel better about the whole situation! It is nice to get different people's views on this subject.
  14. PHEW!!! I'm glad you clarified the 30% interest rate issue. I threw up in my mouth a little when I read 30% which was posted by SummerLin. Just kidding-- but it was not a good feeling when I saw that rate!!!
  15. My arm really hurt after I got mine done. It swelled up and I had a bruise about the size of a softball--no exaggeration. It lasted a couple of weeks. Shots don't usually phase me at all. I hope yours is better soon!
  16. Kayty--You've summed it up rather nicely! It seems that the more we are willing to help ourselves, the less we will qualify for. I mean the harder we (mostly we middle class) try to pull ourselves up and get ahead the more we get knocked back down. Yes, some people truly are in desperate need and they should receive assistance. But--what about those who always take the easy way out, get hand-outs all of the time, drive a nicer car than the rest of us, have a big, beautiful house, nice clothes, cell phones decked out with every possible feature & service, and can afford a fancy Starbucks drink every day? All of these people who are so much BETTER than me are constantly asking what their balance is on their financial aid, while I try and figure out how to buy my next textbook. How is it fair that they qualify for nearly everything and we don't? Something isn't right. And no--I am not knocking the people who are in need and truly cannot get ahead on their own, so don't even go there.
  17. I don't get why people think they're going to go to nursing school and not get into debt either. I know I'm going to have plenty of debt from nursing school! Thanks for the info.
  18. Ouch--those interest rates are brutal! Thanks for the info.
  19. kayty2339-You described my situation almost to a "T" except I've already quit working to finish up my last couple of pre-req's. I wish you the best of luck and if I find any good loans out there, I'll post them on here.
  20. I am shopping around for a loan for nursing school. I don't qualify for financial aid (being middle class is not a good thing--we don't qualify for anything and we don't make tons of money either!). My credit is excellent, so I'd like to get the best loan possible. Does anyone have experience with this? Thank you for your help!
  21. I think maybe your doctor could tell you which route is the best one for you to take...since the school is closed and you can't ask them. Good luck--I'm dealing with the same thing myself.
  22. I would like to add to this: PHANTOM instead of FATHOM SOMEWHERES instead of SOMEWHERE ACROSST instead of ACROSS PISKETTI instead of SPAGHETTI --it's tolerable when a child says it, but when and adult says it it's not o.k.!
  23. O.k. how about those who say VICE-A VERSA instead of VICE VERSA?!! That one bugs me for some reason.
